look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Pours a cloudy, hazy, orangish gold with a thick layer of soft, dense, white head that has great retention. The nose has an intense clove spice aroma with a subtle underlying banana note. The flavor is light, a little sweet, fruity, and finishes with a mild yeasty spice and clove. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, smooth, and well carbonated.

This is an easy drinking, smooth example of the style. Ultimately, though the flavor profile is very light and subtle, though balanced. I wouldn't refuse this in the future.

From a bottle into a German lager glass

Visual (4.5): Nice golden haze, a little on the darker side, with a lasting, pure white, single-finger head of rolling bubbles. Really nice visible carbonation.

Aroma (3.5): Pungent yeast aroma with a nice balance of clove, giving an earthy spiciness to the aroma. There is a touch of citrus, but I think its hard to find.

Taste (3): Light, estery, sweet flavour initially with a kick of spiciness at the swallow. Prominent flavours during the tasting, but very little is left on the pallet afterwards. The wheat is slightly evident in a malt sweetness, but is mostly overpowered by the ester and spice combo.

Mouthfeel (3.5): Light body with a course feel that runs over the pallet. Leaves a dry mouthfeel, common to wheat beers, after the swallow.

Overall (3.5): A good Hefeweizen, but not significantly stand-out. Could have used slightly more complexity in the flavour as the ester sweetness and clove spice were balanced throughout. Appearance and aroma were quite good, touching on all major hallmarks of the style.
