I have been wanting to sample a good hefe for a while, as I have been on a porter/stout kick for what seems like forever. Although I have certainly drank other kinds of beers over the last few months, some in excess, porters and stouts have dominated my beer-drinking as of late. But I don’t want to limit myself to only a couple styles! Especially since German wheat beers are so remarkably and consistently good, I wanted to grab this. Anyway, poured from a pint bottle into what else? A big, personalized weizen glass I got from being a groomsman. Hells yeah

Appearance – Cloudy golden color with an almost brown essence floating around in the beer. This brew certainly looks almost like a two-tone beer, kinda like this awesome ’77 Ford Bronco I used to have. But that’s another story. Nice head on the brew, probably two fingers, outstanding retention and lacing up and down the glass. Weizens in the proper glassware are some of the best looking beers on the planet.

Smell – Breads, yeast, bananas, clove,
everything you would expect from a weizen, and BIG

Taste – Powerful bready yeast with a solid banana background, with hints of clove almost following the nose exactly. This beer is as big in taste as it is in smell, and it smells BIG and tastes BIG. What a brew!

Mouthfeel – Smooth, creamy, nice finish. Big beer all around, makes you want to slam this down!

Overall – This is a tasty beverage through and through . Highly recommended, I would absolutely buy it again. German wheat beers are just so good, it’s nice to revisit them from time to time. First time I have drank a Paulaner, but I bought their doppelbock on the same run as when I got this. This beer represents the hefeweizens and Paulaner well, so I am excited about the doppelbock. Try this beer!

A: Poured from a bottle you get a copper/orange color with a thick white head.

S: Great smells of spice, bananas, citrus. Great smell, but could it be as good as it smells???

T: Yes, yes it can. Great flavor. Not overpowering, but full of flavor that matches the smell.

M: Crisp and clean. Bit more carbonation than anticipated, but doesn't distract from the taste.

Overall - great beer and representation of a hefezeizen. I want more.

Poured into a glass from a bottle, this is a cloudy golden color with medium head. Smells of lemon, banana, and cloves. The taste is like liquid banana bread, with some slight spiciness and citrus mixed in. Extremely refreshing and drinkable, this is a great hefeweizen.

.33 L bottle into a 1/2 L weiss glass

A - tawny amber yellows and copper, lively activity with a pillowy head, very little lacing

S - fruity sugars, peach and banana. honey wheat, very light on the hops and clove

T - Mild sweetness with a slight citrus finish

M - light and refreshing, perhaps a tad under-carbonated for a perfect score but no less easy drinking

O - Really great staple of the style would go for this again no problem

From a bottle poured into a Duvel tulip, filled the glass with a murky light amber orange color along with a 1.5" white fluffy head

Smells like delicious yeasty bread with orange/banana and clove.

Tastes spectacular, follows the aroma; warm yeast (bread rising) with orange zest, cloves and a slight banana-esque flavor in the background.

Mouthfeel is creamy smooth, medium bodied, mild dryness at the end that keeps you coming back for more.

Overall really great for the style, great balance, the Germans really understand this style and have done it right for a very long time - highly recommended.

Cloudy golden amber, with a huge frothy head of fine white bubbles. Virtually no lace.

Malty-sweet aroma, with a spicy clove and wheat zing.

Taste is spicy-sweet, with more clove, as well as butter, bubblegum, and a hint of orange at the finish. Quite refreshing, and a perfectly well-done hefeweizen.

It poured a cloudy yellow in color beer. It smelled like bread, wheat, slight banana, hay. It tasted of biscuit, banana, and crisp.
This beer was actually pretty refreshing for a german beer. It was light to medium in body. Overall, a good brew, definitely a go to beer at bars that lack selection.
