Paulaner has been a favorite for many years, and their consistent high standards, make it a standard to judge other beer’s by, at least in my humble opinion.

The beer on the pour a beclouded amber color, the head large and semi-creamy, the color a brilliant white as it erodes the left over lace forms a tight sheet to conceal the glass. Nose is malt, wheat, citrus, clean and fresh, the front is malt sweet with a decent grain profile, and the top is light to moderate in feel. Finish has a modest acidity, the hops delightfully spicy and the aftertaste sweet and day, a "Quaffable" beer.

One of the better hefe's I have had, it poured with a nice large foamy white head and left ample lace as I drank it. The taste was a little more malty and I detected a tad more hops than a normal hefe (maybe this is why I liked it so well). The mouthfeel was good you could almost feel the bubbles dancing on your tongue. A very good beer for us avcionados and also a good place for the novice to start...........CHEERS

Appearance: Huge sticky white head on a cloudy golden brew.

Smell: Fresh white bread (no, not the wonder-bread kind), yeast, and a hint of peach and banana. Very fresh smell.

Taste: Soft, chewy, and peachy. Very low and barely noticable hops.

Mouthfeel: Rather full bodied and thick. Feels like you might have to chew a little bit before swallowing. Low carbonation.

A Very refreshing beer.

I'll admit that I am not terribly familiar with the hefeweizen style yet, but this is a good brew. It has a cloudy dark orange color to it. Orange also stands out in the aroma as well as a few other flavors. The taste, which continues with orange, was great with an almost perfect blend of malts and hops. The mouthfeel is stimulating but a tad too much. The drinkability is good enough to drink a few of these but not too many.

Man, if there's a better Hefe-Weizen imported into the States, It's certainly escaped my attention.

This cloudy golden brew pours into a nice, creamy head that leaves spotty lace all the way down the glass. It's sweet clove aroma is very inviting.

Taste: This beer absolutely fills the mouth. A wonderful blend of bright flavors is present all the way through the finish; clove and bubblegum are among the most prevalent. This is a truly delicious beer. Honestly, from June through August I have trouble tearing myself away from it. It makes me wonder what the hell breweries like Pyramid, for example, think they're doing labeling their creations as "hefeweizen".

Pours a huge, pillowy head and smells of orange rind and yeast. It tastes similar, with some maltiness and some bittering hops tied in. The mouthfeel is sharp and carbonated, which is rather typical for the style. Overall, it's an easy drinking hefeweizen and is definitely worth a try.

This is a great Hefeweizen. Colossal head when poured right. A fruity banana aroma permeates the air as your glass rises from the bar. The lemon wedge does wonders in bringing forward the citrus flavors. However, this one can be enjoyed equally without. A nice amber-light yellow color with a slight tinge towards opaque. Terrific feel washing around in the mouth; bountiful and impressing.

Oh mama thats good Hefe-Weizen. Poured beautifully, with yeast sediments floatin around. Didn't want the lemon, I think it takes away some of the spiciness that I enjoy so much.

The wheat and yeast flavors were quite strong, and the citrusy flavor blended nicely for a delicious complexity. This is just a damn good HefeWeizen.

Huge rock of a head, had it with a lemon because of the heat. Very nice armoa of yeast, but the taste was a little less than some of the other hefe-weisen I've had recently. Still a wonderful summer beer, highly recommended.

A classic Bavarian hefe-weizen! Cloudy with a thick, fluffy, bright white head. Fine, tiny bubbles continually rise keeping a head throughout the entire glass. Intense aromas of sweet malt, cloves and banana. It's texture is rich, creamy, and silky - yet it's incredibly refreshing with it's bright flavors and zesty carbonation! The flavor follows the aroma with the addition of a light note of darkish fruit, maybe ripe plum. It's really amazing how complex and fulfilling this beer is. Finishes with a lingering note of clove. Extremely enjoyable and refreshing. One of the best examples of the style. Able to be enjoyed throughout the entire year.

Hazy golden, lighter than some...good head that not only mounds up but holds some shapes well. Clovey smell, hint of acidity. Light body, estery and fruit with a slight lemon sense early. Finishes relatively quickly in flavor. Very true to style. I pretty much enjoyed the flavor as much as I can for a Wheat, but the mouthfeel could have been a little denser, creamier, and more satisfying.

First of all this beer gives head like a porn star... then you notice the creamy cloud that embodies this golden beer. A very inviting appearance.

The aroma does little to invite you to drink it. It has an odd smell, I suppose it resembles banana.

The taste is tangy with citrus and spice. It fizzes on your tongue, it feels wonderful in your mouth, savor that joy before you swallow.

The freshness date is critical to the quality of this beer. If your beer expires the same month your going to buy it, leave it on the shelf… it will disappoint you!

But this is a great beer! One of the best and one of my favorites!

I was never a fan of wheat beers, but this brew may change my ways. Typical wheat beer cloudiness in a pale-gold colour. Scents of bananas, yeast and slight clove. The nose is not my bag, but I can imagine fans of the style really enjoying it. Strong yeast and banana taste, also slighty nutty and a sourness that I never previously enjoyed. Strong German malts with no hop flavor, but present bitterness. Smooth, medium-heavy body, fills the mouth pleasantly. Also an interesting effervesence (sp?) that may be style specific.

I hated (yes, hated) any wheaty/yeasty beers beers until now. Although I do not think drinking many of these wheat beers in on sitting would be a good idea, I think I will enjoy one every now and again. Very different flavors and carbonation. I think I dig it. I will write a new review if my hefe knowledge and taste develope. But I think this may be a really strong example of this style. Cheers

Pours an attractive cloudy orangish-yellow color with a fine head that dissipates quickly but hangs around the edges. Aroma is muted until the beer warms a bit, then it's as inviting as its well-balanced taste. Nice melding of fruit (lemon and banana) and cloves. Clings in the mouth just enough to say, "Please sir, may I have another?" A better Hefe-Weizen I have yet to taste.

Looks and smells just as it's supposed to, big foamy head (of a slightly darker color) and cloudy straw color. Aroma is of cloves and fruitiness, very pleasant. What an enjoyable drink! There is a smooth softness to this that makes it thirst quenching. The grainy taste of the wheat predominates but isn't over powering. Dryness to the finish, but not bitter. This sample was a little flat in the mouthfeel, but otherwise so pleasurable.

This beer pour a cloudy, yellow color with a nice white head that left some lace. Some level of carbonation present. Some aroma of clove and maybe a hint of banana. The tast has some hops and clove aspects. The finish is what sells me on this beer. I am not a big fan of this style, but look for these styles for the warmer months. This is what this type of beer should be like. Definiately worth checking out.

Presentation: 16 oz slender euro style brown bottle, freshness date is on the bottom right corner of the front label. The label depicts a scene of perhaps the era in Germany when Paulaner first started brewing.

Appearance: The head is extremely amazing, it foamed up real quick at first and seems to want to tower on top of the glass. Champagne like bubbles raced to the top while the rush of yeast clouded the deep orange copper toned brew. After a few minutes the white head dissipates slightly yet it leaves thick foamy rings of lace down the sides of the glass.

Smell: Fruity of lemon juice and rind, nutty yeast and a touch of clove give it plenty of depth. Hints of spicy pepper corn and a trace of medicinal phenols add to the character.

Taste: Impeccably smooth with a malty medium body, carbonation has dropped down to a moderate level after the active pouring. Sweet tart nectarines and mild banana come to mind from the fruitiness, very abundant malt flavour with suggestions raw honey and sweet rolls. Light prickly spiciness that intensifies the close the finish gets. Hops are passive a give a touch of bitterness at most.

Notes: Funny, on the website it say that their Hefe-Weizen should not be served with a lemon because the citric oils kill the head, this is true so if you don’t care about good head and must add a lemon wedge to a perfectly great beer than please don’t let us or even the brewers tell you otherwise. Remember the beer gods are watching you. Loss of carbonation after the pouring was this beers only draw back, I got over that real quick.

Slightly sweeter than I expected (and would have preferred), this is still a very drinkable Hefe. Lovely aroma, generally a good beer but somewhat overrated.

This is a decent Hefe. Cloudy, pale yellow in color, thick dense head. Slightly lemony smell with a hint of clove and spice. Sone trace of almond or vanilla. A great hefe.

A beautiful cloudy gold, as is to be expected. It has a beautiful white pillow-like head that you'll want to lay your head on after a few beers weissbiers on a warm summer afternoon. A nice banana smell and taste is present throughout. This is a great all-day beer and sets the standard for the style.

hazy cloudy deep golden color. nice foamy head. aroma of the usual bananas and cloves. nice effervescent mouthfeel. solid body. tastes great... a lemony grassy flavor with a nice shot of clove. slides down smooth as silk. what all other yeast-wheat beers aspire to be. a summer time classic, not to mention one of the best beers in the world.

This is probably my 2nd favorite hefe-weiss after Franzikaner. Nice citrus and banana undertones. A little less drinkable than Franzikaner or Ayinger.

Had this on tap. Very solid hefe-weizen. Not overwhelming in the phenolic and tart characteristics, but they are there. Great cloudy appearance. Good clove and vanilla notes on the nose. Easy drinking.

Beautiful hazy golden with a creamy white head on top. Banana and light clove in the nose. Great wheat and yeast with an awesome banana character and just enough clove. Awesome creamy mouthfeel and amazingly drinkable. Damn was this awesome. I really don't think anything would have tasted better after a long week of work.

Scents of clove and brown sugar. Cloudy, golden brown color with a fine, long lasting head. A bit picky on the tongue, medium bodied. Tastes of clove. Very nice beer. Enjoyed this one on the back deck in the warm sun. Should have had more!
