Pours hazy amber with a two finger thick and very, very smooth head. Lots of lacing and nice retention. Smell is banana, some clove and alcohol, lemon, bread... And also, I'm sorry to say, something that's not entirely unlike a faint puke smell. Tastes sweet, with banana and bubblegum, and a bit spicy. Oh, and there's still that weird pukey thing going on. Weird (and kinda gross). Mouthfeel is thick and frothy, a bit sticky.

Yeesh. Is this really the oft-praised Paulaner? It's like a disappointing version of Hoegaarden, except it's twice as expensive. The best compliment I can offer it is that's it slightly above average.

More sour and spicy than many US craft brew examples. Lots of clove, wheat and pepper, and a little lighter on the banana and bubblegum. A good thirst quencher overall.

330ml bottle poured into tulip.

Pours a hazy bright orange with one fat finger of white head that leaves rolling Middle Earth foothill lace as it recedes.

Smells of banana, lemon zest, white pepper, clove, grainy wheat malt and fruity, grassy hops.

Tastes of more ripe banana, sugared lemon, bubblegum, more peppery yeast, white bread and more mild green hops.

Feels light and lively. Light bodied with actively frothy carbonation. Finishes mildly sweet.

Verdict: Vigorously recommended. Complex and refreshing.

Hazy peach under a good head that settles to half a cm and gives good lace. Handsome. Fruity wheaty yeasty nose. A hint of spice, not as pronounced as other hefes, soft and subdued, but appetizing. Also soft on the palate, quite tasty. Wheaty, bready, fruity and again, not as pronounced as other hefes. Slightly sour yeastiness. A little bite from carbonation up front, but gentle after that. A decent brew in the German tradition. Nicely done.
