L: Dark brown, amber hints, nice fluffy head, slight lacing
S: Banana, toasted malts, cloves, fresh bread
T: Starts off sweet with banana typical hefe-weizen notes and then a dark toasted malt flavor over takes it. The change is for the worse in my opinion and leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste, a metallicy taste
F: Smooth, but not as full bodied as other Dunkeweizens.
O: A fine Dunkelweizen but would prefer others, its an average beer

Pours as magnificent as any German weissbier with a warm, cloudy caramel color and an immense, active beige head. Near perfect retention and sheets of concentric dripping candle wax lacing. The aroma is rich toasty bananas with a backbone of melanoidins. Flavor follows suit with lots of sweet yeast flavors and rich malt support. Filling, liquid bread feel and very drinkable. Inoffensive and carefully put together. Although this is not my favorite paulaner iteration and not my favorite dunkel, it is very good and I would drink it again.

I can get this beer at a lot of places in China. For an import beer, it sells at a reasonable price a lot of times, too. On top of that, this is truly a fantastic beer. It's rich, full-bodied, and smooth. It pours nicely into a glass but also comes great out of a bottle. The aftertaste isn't too overpowering when coupling this with a meal, so I like that also. Give this one a try if you haven't!

Looks a bit on the lighter side, which is in the taste reflected, compared to other Dunkels with which it must consider itself a competitor. But it's nice. It's no Schneider Aventinus but it's better than, for example, Erdinger Dunkel.
