I was in Omaha for a work event and this time we had to stay way west instead of downtown.

I saw this store when I was headed out to a restaurant. I stopped by and was pleasantly surprised by the large selection of beer. Prices were very attractive. I saw all new Belgium 6 packs on sale for $6.99.

I did the mix your own 6 pack for $8.99 and was able to get 6 Nebraska beers that I have never seen in Illinois.

The staff was friendly and the beer guy stopped by to make sure I found what I was looking for.

I’m glad I stopped by and would again next time I am this far west.

This store is way West and way South in Omaha... I didn’t even really realize Omaha existed out here!

Anyway, I stopped in this Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits recently to checkout the selection. The liquor store is attached to the grocery store; it can be entered via the outside doors or through the store itself.

Clean. The layout is standard; the beer is to the left. I saw nothing new for Omaha. There was some Ommegang and Hennipen in 750s, which is spotty to find in Omaha. Boulevard, New Belgium, GI, SA, Rogue, Odell… you know the lineup. No imports of note, just the standard stuff you can find around town. There was a small area to mix a six-pack of warm singles. Many duds in that lot!

The service seemed friendly, I chose not to buy anything but the clerk did ask if I was trying to find something.

I didn’t notice any really old beer but there wasn’t many seasonals to judge. Best-by dates on the Sam Adams and Paulaner’s was good; take that for what it is worth.

I didn’t see much of a need to make the trip out here again but folks in SW Omaha should be happy to have a solid beer spot nearby.

This is another Hy-Vee location that mirrors other new stores that are popping up in the Omaha area. A decent selection here of micros/crafts/imports. Pretty decent selection of singles, however many seem to be dated to the point that the bottles have dust on them. Very few,. in fact almost zero singles and no bombers cold. The selection is heavy on ales and pils, quite light on stouts porters and the like. Not bad compared to other stores in this class but it does not live up to the 156th location of the same name. Staff is nice and actually very helpful, if not too knowlegeable about the product. If you live in millard this is it really. As far as I know of.
