On draught at "Big E's", their IPA is burnt orange with a scattered off-white lace head.

Smell is sweet citrus and piney, caramel and brown sugar.

Taste is malty, herbal, leafy hops, moderate bitterness. A little hot. Fine, not remarkable.

Mouthfeel is on the chewy side, drying ethanol, medium+.

Drinkability is ok, a pedestrian local style IPA, too malty and dirty for the hop bill. "Okay."

I had this on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.

Appearance: orange hue with a touch of haze to the body. Head is a thin layer of creamy white foam. A decent look, overall.

Smell: mild aroma with a pretty light hoppiness. So-so.

Taste: funky, spicy, citrusy hops right off the bat. Malt character is dry and bitterness is damn high. It's good, but its flavors are a bit of a mess.

Mouthfeel: medium light body with a surprisingly nice creaminess.

Overall: good, but like I said it's a bit of a mess. This beer could use some refinement.

Poured a deep orange color with a nice foamy white head. Nose was faint hops, malt and a little citrus going on. Taste was was pretty flat across the board. Not bad but not great either. Taste had some floral and citrus notes with slight bite the middle was lacking a bit in body. Off balanced, grainy and just not what I am used to. After having this after Diamond Knot IPA I was let down. Mouthfeel was a thinner than I expected. Average IPA.

Though this ale is dry hopped, the aroma is too modest to cut through the ambiant smells of fried food and burgers that permeate Ellersick's tasting room. The IPA sports a soapy head and gripping lace on a clear copper body with minmal CO2. The taste delivers a modest supply of pleasing IPA qualities and the beer is easy enough to drink. However, it's also very easy to find better IPAs locally and Ellersick's won't be mistaken for a top-tier competitor.

Growler poured into a pint glass.

A: Orangish copper color. Pretty hazy. About a three quarter finger head, slightly off white, with some sizable bubbles. The head quickly dissipates.

S: A very piney hop aroma. A good earthiness also. Not much malts coming through. But that's OK as I love a good hop bomb.

T: A slight caramel sweetness touches the tip of the tongue, then the Big earthy/piney hoppiness comes through. Almost a dirty taste. Don't know if it's great or not but definitely not bad.

M: Light to medium bodied. Very crisp and refreshing. Very drinkable.

O: A decent IPA from a little local brewery. Will give the others they brew a shot for sure. If your in Lynnwood, WA stop by.
