On Tap at Mad Mex Monroeville
A: Pale golden, semi opaque with a medium sized white head. The head dissipates slightly and remains as a 1/4" head. Average lacing.
S: Floral and fruity up front, with some sweet malty scents quick to follow. Near the mid-end some crisp hoppy scents in their as well as some yeasty bread.
T: Wow, really impressed with the flavor profile. Strong Maibock and surprisingly some Blonde-like flavors. Fruity up front with some creamy-like peach, baked pineapple, and generic citrusy flavors. Some definite sweet malty flavors coming through next with some yeasty and semi-candi like flavors to follow. Near the end some off beat crisp hop flavors as well coming through. Great flavor progression.
MF: Medium and "creamy"
Overall: I was anticipating trying this brew for weeks and I am glad I did. Great authentic flavors. Not sure if it fits exactly into the traditional Maibock style, it seems to be a bit of a hybrid. A quality brew nonetheless. Another fabulous offering from Penn Brewery!

on draft. appears copper colored, not much head. as expected, the malt flavors dominate, not really much contribution from hops. this was okay, just a bit bland.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a crystal clear orange-amber color with a thick one finger white head that has good retention. The head fades over time to leave a lighter level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The nose of the beer is sweet and fruity with heavy notes of apricot, peach, and apple as well as a good showing of a sugary caramel smell. Along with these smells comes some other aromas of a bready and doughty smell along with a little bit of a hop aroma of a grassy and floral nature.
Taste – The taste begins less sweet then would have been anticipated from the nose, but does contain a decent amount of caramel and a lighter fruitiness of peach and apricot. Along with these flavors is a good showing of a bready flavor. As the taste advances the caramel decreases with the bready fruity flavors getting slightly stronger and being joined by some grainy pale malt flavors. The caramel loses much intensity by the tastes end, but is replaced by a new light apple flavor that develops later in the profile. All the while some quite light hop flavors of a grassy and floral nature develop on the tongue and, with the other flavors, end up leaving a smooth, somewhat grainy, fruit sweetened, bready flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The thicker and chewier body is fantastic for the bigger bready flavors of the brew all while the lower carbonation helps to allow for the lighter hop flavors to be sensed and to nicely complement the fruity and malty tastes of the brew.
Overall – A rather tasty Maibock overall. Thick and bready with a good showing of fruit and just enough hop to keep it more balanced and rather enjoyable. Quite tasty.

Light coppery cider amber color with a dense cap.
Apple-y malts, treacle, helles bock golden grain, light mustiness, stone fruit, and some earthy Noble hops. Very aromatic.
Follows the nose with pomme bang and apricot candy. Sturdy barley malts with a zesty and spicy hop presence. Treacle finish with a Euro throw.
Drinks smoothly, but alcohol is a nuisance. Alcohol hype, all getting in the way when I wanna slug.
Solid maibock. Recommended.
