Notes: The “champagne of beer” fermented slowly & aged a full six weeks. We use imported German hops, producing a balanced beer with a “hoppy” aroma & a full, soft texture.

A - poured from a 650ml bottle into a pint glass. It pours clear deep yellow. The head settles to a ring and leaves minimal lacing.

S - sweet malt and piny, earthy hops

T - sweet malt that transitions into the hops flavors well. There is a bit of a soapy finish to the hops that invites another sip.

M - medium carbonation that dissipates slowly in the mouth, medium-thin body and slightly dry finish

D - excellent. The smell and taste is unlike any lager I've had before.

An outstanding lager. Good amber hue, with a very fluffy white head. Malty smell with decent hop bitterness. Very pronounced, sweet malt taste. Hops impart a somewhat dry, slightly acid taste. Nothing unpleasant about the taste at all.

Mouthfeel is good, but the head tends to get in the way a bit until it settles down.

Drinkable, but becomes a bit sweet as it warms up.

A: Clear bronze with a white head, some retention & lacing.

S: Awesome, German nobel hop aroma: Floral, grass, spicy.

T: Good German hop flavour, slight breadyness, balanced bitterness.

M: Very smooth with a body on the low side of moderate.

D: Great stuff.

Purchased the bottle at their liquor store. Pours deep gold colour with nice big white head. Smells a bit citrusy with a touch of hops. Tastes very good but it's a bit too hoppy for a lager in my opinion. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Very nice beer, it's drinkable, but i'm not really sure if it's a lager..:)

Served on-tap at the brew-pub.

A: Amber with a small white head. Minimal retention, moderate lacing.

S: Lots of malts and hops. Floral notes. Maybe some butterscotch?

T: Hoppy, but well balanced with some malts. I still think I detect a little bit of butterscotch. Really a great beer.

M: Medium bodied, moderate carbonation.

I am normally not a fan of lagers, but this was a really good offering from Swan's. I would seek this out, though I'm still disappointed they were out of the oatmeal stout when I was in town. Also, they billed this as the "champagne of beers." That is an overstatement. It is good, but it's not the best I've had.

Verbatim from notes 16JUL11

Golden/honey ale with no head, no surface. Brilliant clarity. Some nice honey blossom notes on the nose. Some grain, hops presence of unk nature. A sweet but simple beer. Lager yeast is actually present in the taste, but not bad. Thin with low cab. Dry finish. Okay, drinkable.
