Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a dark brown color with a small dense tan colored head. The head fades rather fast, leaving a good sum of spiderweb lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is huge of a roasted malt smell mixed with a big showing of cola and caramel. Along with these smells comes a dose of brown bread and a bit of coffee. There is a touch of nuttiness as well as a bit of cocoa and crème.
Taste – The taste begins with a heavy toasted and roasted malt flavor mixed with a big showing of molasses, caramel and brown sugar. There is also a decent showing of coffee and a bit of crème, mixed with some light herbal flavors and a bit of oak. As the taste advances the caramel takes on some buttery toffee notes, with more smooth brown bread joining in. At the end there is a touch of pine and some almond that join in, leaving one with a rich, toasty, and malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and creamy with a lower carbonation level. For the style and the tastes, the feel is quite nice, creating a nice dessert like sipper.
Overall – A big malty brown ale with a rather surprising balance of sweet, malt, roast, and light bitterness.

Enjoying a couple of 16oz cans on a lazy Sunday afternoon.... Not exactly sure, but I may have picked these up as leftovers at the end of the OCT 2023 Mt Uncanoonuc Beer Festival.... no freshness info found on the can.

Pours a rich, clear, deep ruby-garnet color. Has steady carbo within, and a creamy, thin, beige head up top, with light lacing. Smells of caramel and toffee, with hints of maple and brown sugar. Has a solid medium body, with a fairly smooth feel going down.

Taste is pleasantly malty with a smidge of hops at the end. Has a good deal more of the tasty toffee/caramel combo, plus a bit of butterscotch. Also has another hint of maple and a suggestion of nuttiness, with the finish having some earthy, slightly floral hop action. Reminds me of some solid, English Old Ales. Pretty good, all-in-all. Cheers!

Undated 16 oz can from Vermont served in a large, double-walled, glass mug. The dark brown pour looked good but the beige head quickly recedes to a thin top coat and a bubbly ring. A very mild aroma precedes a moderately strong flavor. Dark roasted grains are dominant, with minimal smokiness and a faint hint of burnt grains. It is reasonably clean with average bitterness and moderate hoppiness for the style.

Sampling a cold 16 oz can pouring into a snifter of sorts. Date stamp is illegible on bottom of can.
The beer pours a dark cola brown color with no light passing through the glass. A very minimal, dense creamy beige head exists from the pour but is barely a surface covering. This fades to a thin edge layer soon after I finish pouring the beer.
The aroma on this beer is pretty mild but I do get sweet toffee and chocolate notes and a little bit of an earthy hop note as well. NO hint of the 8.4% ABV on this one.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture and sort of prickly carbonation that makes the mouthfeel a little aggressive in my opinion.
Flavor is sweet malt up front with chocolate and toffee mixing with some roasted notes as well. I do get a bit of hop bite with again an earthy or grassy note. The finish is fairly dry and the bite does linger a little bit on the swallow.
This beer drinks very easy for 8.4% and is pretty nicely balanced, the sharp carbonation is a little off putting to me, but otherwise I enjoy this brown ale and am glad to have tried it.

Pours a cola brown, deep and glossy, feint lacing all throughout. Nose is sweet malt, bitter hop, pithy rind, some English character, like that of a pub ale.

Tastes lovely. Sharp and robust, There's a good amount of nuttiness, also some hoppy character riding along. A good bit really, probably sharp amounts of cascade. It really begs for a pint glass albeit above 8%. Reminds me a lot of an old ale, in fact, reminds me a lot of Mayflowers - Thanksgiving Ale. There's the same earl grey/black tea, hoppiness, sweet malt character, just a robust, full and bitter ale. Very tasty.

Poured from a 16oz can into pint glass. There was not a brewed-on date on the can, and I drank this less than 1 month after purchase.

Appearance: Dark Amber/brown. Very opaque. There is a 2-finger off-white head when poured. The head lasted about 1 minute, and left a very small covering. There is some lacing left on the side of the glass.

Smell: Sweet, with malt and caramel aroma. Some hop aroma to a lesser extent.

Taste: Very nice and an unique taste. I can definitely taste the pumpkin, and there are some spicy flavors which makes for a unique taste.

Mouthfeel: Moderate. Alcohol matches the 8.4% on the label.

This is an interesting brown ale. I like this better than the regular Pig's Ear, which is also a good drinker. The sweet malt flavors are nice with. I enjoyed my visit to their brewpub, and would buy this again.

Really dig this stuff. Awesome malt nose and flavors. Gets a tad hot with some booze shining through for the nowadays relatively low ABV, but otherwise I enjoy it and revisit this one at least yearly.

Double Pig's Ear has a medium, beige head, a very dark brown appearance, with red highlights, some bubbles, and creamy sheet lacing. The aroma is of faint sweetness and roasted malts. The flavor is of bold roasted malts, some char, and even a touch of licorice. Double Pig's Ear has a medium body and a slightly-slick mouthfeel. It finishes medium dry.

Pours a two finger light tan head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Clear deep brown/ruby color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Light nuts and malty nose. Flavor is similar and is much better than the regular Pig's Ear. Higher ABV, 8.4% is hidden. 16oz can.
