A creamy unfiltered oatmeal stout with roasted and black patent malts shinning through. Complex, medium to dry palate with a bittersweet finish.

On tap at source, not sure why this one's not rated higher. I love me some oats and this delivers a clean, roasty, straightforward stout that I could quaff all night. Good stuff and oats just smooth it right out. Just please stop with nitro already - it's played out and annoying. Give me back my CO2!

On tap at brew pub, North Woodstock, NH. Served in shaker. Reviewed 7/25/19.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Unknown.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque.
Head – Removed by bartender, the remaining being a dense three mm cap, light tan, good retention. Some torn curtain lacing remains as the head retracts.
Lacing – See above.
Aroma – 3 – Unable to detect any.
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins slightly sweet and milk-chocolatey. No alcohol taste or aroma (5.2 % ABV), no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, creamy, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 3.75 – Good flavor and mouthfeel. Perhaps the aroma was just too weak to detect among the dominant food smells. Overall, an easy drinking brew.

This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. There was some light speckled lacing running here and there in a messy sort of way around the glass. The smell was roasty with a full grainy/oatmeal aroma about it. A light chocolate and coffee combination then came about to fulfill a wonderful aroma all about. The taste was once again roasty and grainy with a light chocolate and coffee rolling about on my taste buds. On the palate, this sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed just a tad under for the oatmeal stout style. Am I complaining? Actually, I didn’t mind it for the most part. Overall, not a bad oatmeal stout, I think I could do this again.

From the bottle, it pours a dark brown with a nice light brown fluffy head. Roasted malt and coffee in the nose. Some roast in the mouth, not as much as I expected, however. Medium body. Enjoyable.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into pint glass in November 2015. Drink before April 2016 printed on the bottle.

Appearance: Deep black with dark tan head. Beer color is opaque but not cloudy. Head is thick, and leaves a thin film on the glass.

Smell: Aroma filled with mix of roasted malt and coffee. There is a hint of chocolate as well. Nice variety and balance, with a little hops aroma.

Taste: There is a nice mix of sweetness from the malt and a little bite from the hops. There is a strong roasted coffee flavor, and also a little chocolate flavors, balanced with a bit of hops. This was done in a nice combination, but I expected a wider variety of other flavors. The flavors in the aftertaste was good, and they lasts for a minute or so.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, and very smooth, but thinner than I expected from a stout. About the same mouthfeel as Guinness Draught. Mild alcohol, which confirms the 5.13% on the bottle.

This is an extremely smooth full-bodied Oatmeal Stout. It is an interesting combination of flavors, and I would drink this again. Not as full-bodied or complex as some other stouts I have tasted, but overall a good beer.

Pours pitch black with a cream head. Smells of light roasted chocolate malts. Taste is a bit sour, burnt, roasty, mild chocolate malt. Almost pretzel like with a chocolate coffee aftertaste. Mouthfeel is creamy but the body is very thin with high carbonation.
