Poured from a growler into a mug.

A: Pours a deep hazy amber with a thick foamy head which quickly fades with almost no lace. Seems more carbonated than usual for a Woodstock brew.

S: Apple pie, cinnamon, nutmeg... yes, its Autumn in New England! Smelling this reminds New Englanders why we love our Falls so much.

T: Sweet and spicy, almost no hop presence. Spice, however is not overdone like in some seasonal beers. Not sure what style this beer would really fit in, very unique. Nothing special about this beer; a nice blend of flavors that brings about nostalgic feelings of New Hampshire Autumn.

M&D: Very carbonated, feels more like soda in your mouth, however still a very drinkable beer.

Deep, rich brown in color, almost reminds me of root beer. Thin line of a head surrounds the glass, leaving sparse lacing down the snifter glass it was poured into. Warming aroma of bread and nutmeg. Same with the taste, though also something like pumpkin pie spice in it. Little carbonation, with a seltzer-like feel on the tongue. A nice drink for a cool fall day.

12 oz bottle

Pours clear reddish brown, white film for a head.

Smells like pie crust, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and cardamom.

Tastes of graham cracker and pie crust with nutmeg, cardamom, and allspice.

Light to medium body, stinging carbonation on the tongue.

Festive and spicy. Decent winter warmer with some notable desert like tendencies, but ultimately the bitterness of the spices wins out. Surprisingly I like this. Worth trying.

Look: Poured a nice amber/brown color

Smell: Immediate notes of apple and cinnamon, apple pie! Nutmeg, cloves, and perhaps caramel.

Taste: My first reaction was "wow, that's a lot of cinnamon". Sweeter than what I am used to, but didn't really turn me off to the beer. Lots of flavors going on at once. The apple sweetness seemed to be up front and ended with a bitter cinnamon flavor at the end of each taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, easy to drink. Just the right amount of carbonation which made it easier to pick up on all the spices and flavors.

Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. It is quite filling so I personally would have just one pint. It is a great beer to have on a cold day preferably with (or as!) dessert. From my experience, I'd recommend serving slightly warmer and definitely in a glass.

Bottle > Pint Glass

A - Pours a darker brown color, with almost two fingers of off white head, no lacing.
S - Surprisingly floral, a little nutty, pumpkin pie spice.
T - Toasted caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, light floral notes.
M - Just ok, medium feel, a little sticky.
O - Its an ok beer for the season, a little sweet.

Based on the other reviews, I was expecting something much different, but I really enjoyed this beer. Poured from a draft at the Barley House in Concord on 10/25/14. It had a nice balance and the flavors of fall I was expecting. Nice clean finish, but ever so slightly sweet. If you are on the fence, go for this one.

(copied from blog - written January 6, 2013)

Appearance – Clear red/brown/amber with a small white head.
Smell – Cinnamon straight up.
Taste – Tart apples, cinnamon and sugar.

This was free since it was going out of code at my store... so it was kind of out of season. With that said, it is pretty tasty and could be celebrated with in the fall or spring. There’s moderate carbonation and it’s a pretty easy drink; if you like sweeter beers give it a shot when it is available next fall.
