Deep ruby hue, A hearty full bodies holiday ale . Very malty with assertive hoppiness combining with alcohol warmth.

16 oz can from Vermont with illegible date(s?) stamped on the bottom. Served in a .6L beer glass.
Appearance. This is a fine looking winter ale. It has a clear, dark reddish-brown body with a durable beige head.
The aroma is a mix of light spices, substantial malts, and some hops. These don't quite gel here but the outcome is nice in the flavor. This winter seasonal doesn't make the common error (IMO) of overdoing "winter" spices. It drinks like a lightly spicy, strong American Brown Ale.

Fro m the 12 oz can, it pours a nice reddish amber with a modest, though long lasting, light tan head. In the nose, it is sweetish malt and a bit of vanilla and a touch of cinnamon. In the mouth, it is malty with a light spice. It leaves an oily feel in the mouth after. Hmm.

Pours a bright copper color with little head. The nose is malty and bready. The flavor follows the nose with a dry finish. The body on this offering is a bit thin for the style.

It pours a dark brown yielding a nice one inch white foamy head into my nonic. Some nice spider web yet light foamy lacing speckles the sides of the glass. The smell is spicy having the normal winter spices up front such as nutmeg, allspice and ginger. There is some light brown sugar in the background. The taste is semi-sweet with the previously mentioned flavors and light bitterness coming in through some light hops, mostly balanced. The palate is about a medium, could be ranging closer to heavy, a mostly one and done in a session.. Some light sharpness a bit here and there, nothing obscure. Overall, this is a good winter warmer that I would come back to.

On tap. I was looking forward to this as it was their strongest offering last visit. Reddish-brown in appearance, with a tan head that quickly dissipates. Aromas of spice and malt, it's appealing. Initial flavor is strange with some medicinal taste, but quickly mellows to a smooth, malty and sweet finish. Not bad, but not great.
