Störtebeker Bock-Bier, ABV: 6.5%.
330 ml bottle, 14.90 SEK at Systembolaget.

A: Semi-dark, amber, or copper-coloured look, and a creamy, off-white head that sinks quickly, leaving little in terms of lacing.

S: Roasted malt, toffee, and very different kinds of fruits (bananas, oranges, and raisins) meet the nose. A sense of sweetness in the aroma.

T: The sweet and roasted feeling of malt, toffee, and banana skids from the nose is still here - with some notes of chocolate, and alcohol.

M: Soft, with light carbonation, medium-low bitterness, and a medium-sized body. Aftertaste of malt and rye bread.

O: I'm conflicted, some things I like and some things I don't, about this beer. It's charming, with the bananas and everything, but it lacks the sturdy feeling these kinds of beers really need. I could drink it, but it's too thin, I'd say - I could say it's unbalanced.

A: Amber color, head is white but dissolves quickly.

S: Sweet around with the alcohol, fruity, little citric notes.

T: When opened directly from the fridge you get just plain alcohol taste with huge sweetness punching you in the face. Some degrees later the usual balanced "fruity-sweet-alcohol-taste" you find in bock beers comes forward. Aftertaste is bitter sweet.

Overall: Not my favorite style of beer, so reviewing this beer is hard.

The smell is malty with some sweet soapy notes. Some alcohol, caramel and a touch of Madeira.

The colour is deep amber (30 EBC); the liquid clear, the low off-white head sinks quickly, leaving a thin ring and almost no lacing.

The taste is lighter than expected. Malty flavours of cereals, cookies and fresh bread. Medium bodied. The aftertaste got a slight earthy note, some alcohol and a creamy sweetness. Hints of minerals and dough in the aftertaste.

The carbonation is strong. Medium sized bubbles. The liquid is a little sticky and sweet.

When I drink a Bock, I expect a sweet, powerful and complex malty brew. This one was a bit too plain for me.

A: Pour is dark golden, light copper. The light tan head is rather creamy, medium-larged. Dissipates at a medium pace, leaving nice lacings.

S: Rich sweet malt, sligthly roasted. Dark dried fruits, plums. Some bitter hops, but in the background.

T: Sweet malt, light roasted. Dark dried fruits - cherries and plums. Some faint bitter hops.

M: Syrupy full body and moderate carbonation. Aftertaste lingers for some time, sweetness. Some alcoholic feel to it.

D: This is a nice Bock, the sweetness is great.

The beer is clear, amber, an off-white head that settles quickly, but leaves good lacing.

Some earthy musty aromas, orange and nettles, boiled sausages.

Tasting of sweet brown bread, salted butter, alcohol, oxidization and metal.

Medium high carbonation, a bit oily and dry.

Well, there are some odd flavors, but I kinda like it ...
