Just not a fan of the chocolate honey flavoring

Billed flavors did not really come through imo. Not a bad beer but the name is more marketing than anything...

Cocoa for sure. A little sour on the way down. I love this brewery but this one just didn't work for me

Cola brown, with a thin tan ring.

Cola smell, with some smoke, and nondescript spice.

Taste is charred malt, chocolate, hint of smoke, and maybe some nuttiness. Not much going on really, but it has a frothiness to it.

Aroma of chocolate, grains, honey, cinnamon, spice. Taste cocoa, burnt grains, caramel, leather, spice. Ok!

12 ounce bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Greenville, South Carolina.

Appearance: Slips out a black body crowned with two inches of tan-hued suds.

Smell: A leading sniff of soy sauce, as well as roasted malts, clearance chocolate, burnt sugars and spiced honey candy.

Taste: It's sweet, moderately so. Hinting of honey sweet, even. Sweetness is blunted by roastiness with some low-grade chocolate. Very mild spice element for a little, low pepper note. A bit of umami. Sweetish, honey-roast finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Fairly smooth mouthfeel.

Overall: At best it's so-so.

12 oz bottle served in a snifter (lightly revised with a sample on tap in Dec. 2015).
Pours an opaque yet clear red-brown at the edges. Small tan head soon reduces to a partial thin coat.

S: Moderately strong, with notes of coffee and roasted grains. Too vegetal.

T: better, with more coffee and dark roasted malts to which chocolate is added. Still a bit vegetal (think well cooked, bitter greens). Lightly sweet with just a hint of spice.

M: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation.

O: Rich and moderately complex flavors/aromas are, unfortunately, too vegetal and not very enticing (bottle only).

Pours a three finger light tan head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Black color, no highlights. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied. Light cocoa nose and flavor is light cocoa, hints of honey, burnt chocolate finish. $3.80 for a 12oz bottle from Tully's Beer & Wine Wells, ME.

Served from the bottle into a tulip glass.

A- Poured black with a soapy mocha-colored head that left splashy lace.

S- Lots of sweet milk chocolate notes, honey, vanilla, and some spice notes.

T- Dominant sweet milk chocolate taste up front with a pretty big charred roasted malt flavor on the finish, some nondescript spice notes are present as well.

M- Medium body, pretty over carbonated for the style, and semi- dry finish.

O- An interesting beer that could have been executed better. The mouthfeel was off for the style and the honey and spices don't really add much to a pretty one-dimensional stout.

Poured into a pint glass at around 45 degrees. Black as a banker's soul, with a strong head. Very little nose. Tastes almost like dark chocolate on the finish, but very little sweetness for a beer with "honey" written on it. I will say that it was almost like a cross between a dry stout and Mexican hot chocolate.
