Poured dark brown with a red tint and a half finger tan head that dissipated quickly. Heavy to moderate lacing. Aroma of dark fruit was initially strong followed by dark chocolate. Taste of Bing cherry, chocolate malt and cola. Medium body and carbonation. Slight watery feel. Overall, this is a nice porter.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on March 17, 2017.

It pours brown with reasonable opaque clarity and reddish hues. Short lasting tan head.

The aroma is immediate with cherry rather than toasted or roasted malts. Those come up second and they are reserved. Low to no hop profile.

The body is around medium and smooth.

Like the aroma I get a distinct cherry flavor mixed in with the roasted dark malt sweetness. There is a kind of fruity bite of bitterness at the finish.

Served at Double Wide Grill, date night with Dave. Came up for the Deschutes free tastings. This beer had a great coffee aroma and rich caramel taste. Enjoyed with rice balls, garlic parmesan wings and nachos! Woo-hoo!

Pours black with a tan head of fairly limited duration. Smell is of burnt bread and some faint coffee. The taste is nicely balanced with elements of roasted malts, coffee and with a sweet undertone. Smooth mouthfeel in an overall medium body. A very nice porter.

DATE: February 4, 2017... OCCASION: watching Captain America with the fam while basking in the glow of our Quiz Bowl team's strong showing... GLASSWARE: Howard's Pub pint... a jet black body upholds a nearly single-finger brown head... creamy and thick, almost Guinness-like in its consistency... for peat's sake, what a nice aroma for a winter's night... smoky too, with a discernibly soft chocolate scent... a hazy drizzle is left behind as the glass drains... a classic cola finish ends a creamy, smooth body... the flavor profile is peat, slight smoke, and vanilla... almost singular in its effect--kind of like its name!--but excellent in what it does... the chocolate makes this a dessertif, but the overall effect is a delicious, easy sipping porter that provokes a second....

Yum! A nice cola color on the pour. The smell is coffee , vanilla, chocolate ,roasted mats and some nuttiness as well as some sweetness. The taste follows the smell. This is a very good American porter. The alcohol is well hidden but then again it's only 5.8. This is a very nice medium body porter. The Thirsty Dog Leg Humper is very well balanced and deserves some love.

Pours a dark brown color with khaki colored head. Coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with an over abundance of roast.
