Looks a hazy orange honey
Smells of clove and fruity black pepper
Tastes strong in the clove, sweetness of citrus fruits, sweet candy and a touch of piney hops
Feels light and refreshing even though it's up at 10%
Overall it's very good if you like clove and pine.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

Dull amber brown, and slightly rusted color with some fine carbonation. Head creation is minimal, maybe half a finger and that's stretching it, with a tan light appearance. Settles to a good collar, which manages to get repopulated.

Big amounts of fruity esters on the nose with this. Sweet honey and fruit character, with touches of clove like maple syrup sweetness. Big caramel touches in here, but more of an accent to the yeast punch quality going on. A little bit of wine like flavor on the nose too, sort of a pinot grigio grape.

Very impressive body. Rich malt and coating, coming off like a buttered caramel sweetness on the tongue. Flavors well, with sugary caramel and malt, but with less Belgian properties. Clove and brown spice richness, and a little bit of that dryness on the finish too. Sweetness and yeast esters fruity quality is very much taken out and almost replaced by rich butterscotch instead.

A very different take, but really doesn't remind me of a tripel, with very little Belgian character.

"Cerberus Belgian Style Trippel [sic] Ale."

Aroma is bready, Belgian, and boozy. with raw notes of fruit. Seems too sweet.

Taste matches the aroma, but it isn't as problematically boozy as many American attempts at Belgian style tripel beers. Dreadfully simple and shallow, though. Green apple. A hint of pear.

Smooth, wet, medium to full-bodied, over-carbonated. Not oily, gushed, hot, or astringent. Too thick and filling for its lack of flavour.

A bit more difficult to drink than it should be given its booziness. I adore some of Thirsty Dog's beers; this is not one of them.

Hazy yellow fast falling white head. herbal hop on crisp malt . lemon sugar. cook herbs. Drinks like a sweet fruit punch. Lightly boozy and very fruity. Juicy hop and a light medicinal alcohol smooths as you drink to show you a sweet fruuit and spice. Clove and soft bread. Finishes with pepper and spice and a nice little bitterness from hops. Drinks very well for 10 percent which is very strong indeed!

I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. The typical spiciness and bitterness that I find come with a lot of tripels isn't there and is instead sweet and very nice on the nose. This is a strong showing.

Cerberus Belgian Tripel brewed by Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, with an ABV of 10.00% This brew pours out a cloudy amber color with a nice white head. The head to this brew sticks around for awhile. Cerberus Belgian Tripel is an unfiltered brew you can not see though it. Now I'm not saying that is a bad thing . The smell is rich with citrus, grains, and malts. There are some nice hop smells in this brew. You will also pick up on a nice sweetness in the smell of this brew. It puts you in the mind set of fruits not citrus but very tropical. The taste is bold with flavors. There is a lot going on in this brew. Also a nice amount of lacing to this brew. First you pick up on the smooth, bold citrus, and the fruit sweetness. Then the smoothness of grains and malts. There is also some nice hop notes in the taste of this brew. Cerberus Belgian Tripel is a well balanced brew, nothing overpowering about this brew at all. For being this complex , this brew goes down smooth. It is really hard to pick up on the 10.00% ABV in this brew. Everything thing about this brew is good. There is no bad aftertaste. Just smooth fruity goodness. The mouth feel of Cerberus Belgian Tripel is Bold, Rich, Citrus, Fruity, and Refreshing. I really like how this brew is kinda different from most brews on the market. Thirsty Dog Brewing Company did a real nice job with this brew. Overall I'm giving Cerberus Belgian Tripel a 4.75 out of 5. I would highly recommend this brew, I would also buy this brew again.

12oz bottle, no date. Served in a tulip glass.

Appearance: Cloudy/opalescent gold to amber color. Thin rocky white head that died back to a ring at the edges. A bit of persistent white lacing noted. Sediment came along with the pour, and I can see an occasional floater in the beer.

Smell: Boozy, bready, yeasty, fruity, VERY inviting.

Taste: Quite malty and sweet, but balanced with a lingering mild bitter finish that has aspects of citrus rind and old noble hops. Somewhat to style, but really potent in the malt sweetness. Lots of yeast flavor as well - definitely fruity esters, but quite boozy.

Mouthfeel: Nicely smooth and thick. A little chewy and sticky on the teeth as well. Carbonation just right, but doesn't scrub away all the sweetness. Not as warming as you would expect given the higher ABV that I can smell and taste.

Overall / Drinkability: A slow sipping beer which I think would be better for winter than it is after an Indian meal in the summer. Normally I find Belgian Tripels and Indian food go well together, but this one is so sweet that it's a desert beer in its own right and it didn't pair well with the meal. It reminds me of a lot of strong dark belgian ales I've had with all the fruit and malt notes. I'm almost hesitant to call it a Tripel and instead maybe it is a strong belgian pale ale. A potent brew - I'm noting it about 1/3 of the way through the glass, so one is enough per evening. I might try this again if on tap and less the sediment to see if the beer takes on more of a Tripel in style. So maybe a bit different than other Tripels I've had in that it is among the sweetest, but it's quite tasty and dangerously drinkable. Good thing I don't have much work to do tonight and I can let the 3 headed guardian of the underworld haul me off to bed later. Or to Hades as may be his fancy.

Dark, hazy amber with a large, foamy, lumpy and creamy khaki head.

Spiced apple, pear pie with warming essences of clove and cinnamon all on the nose.

Hot booze with bready banana, and cinnamon and clove closely following in flavor. As it warms it begins verging into caramel, prune, aka barleywine territory.

Very spiced sweet, with high abv not intolerable but very present.

12 oz brown bottle

Thirsty Dog Cerberus Trippel filled my tulip glass with a hazy/cloudy orange gold color. Atop sat a 1-finger off-white head that left behind hit and miss lacing. The nose first picked up a spicy/peppery aroma followed by candy sugar and light fruit, i.e., pears and peaches. The flavor matches the nose with also yeast and clove detected. Medium bodied with a fine active carbonation and nice alcohol warming at the finish.

Cerberus is an enjoyable and flavorful American Triple - just not quite as smooth/polished as some in the style.
