On cask at the Winking Lizard 2nd Annual Cask Conditioned Beer Fest.

Pours a muddy brown with a white head that sticks around. A great looking dubbel, even if it is from a cask (a first for me).

Smells of cherries and wonderful belgian yeasty esters, giving more tart cherry pie hints and some banana and spice.

Taste is wonderful A really nice dubbel with some bubblegum yeast and some great bready depths, all set off with an impeccable cherry pie and pie crust taste. This rocks.

Mouthfeel is ok for a cask. I like bottle conditioned dubbels, so the carb and body are throwing me off a touch, but they're right for the style.

Drinkability is great. I enjoyed this, the cherry treatment really set this off.

On cask at Barley's Mini Real Ale Fest 2011.

Appearance
A little bit lighter, both in body and in color, than I was expecting. Its a little murky with mostly shades of earthy reds and browns. A loose head is formed on top.

Aroma
Plenty of Belgian yeasty stuff going on. Fig and plums. Cherries are there, but not as strong as I had hoped. In all, nothing about this aroma is as strong as I had hoped.

Taste
Again, this is a bit weak. Its good, with nothing totally off about it. Its just too timid. Light black cherry with lots of Belgian yeast and a crusty, toasty base. Some plum and fig with a pinch of brown sugar.

Mouthfeel
Thin-medium bodied with a low carbonation. The finish is clean.

Overall
A let down. I hoped for great things from this one. Instead its just about average all across the board. I'm not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing when I can be let down by an average beer.
