We took our award winning Siberian Night Russian Imperial Stout and aged it for 11 months in fresh bourbon barrels. The result blew us away. The dark chocolate malt yields a milk chocolate flavor that blends perfectly with the vanilla flavor from the barrel. The bourbon aroma adds the finishing touch.

A: Pours a clear yet opaque jet black in color with slightly more than moderate amounts of active visible carbonation at the edges near the surface of the glass and some faint dark cola brown highlights. The beer has a half finger tall creamy dark mocha head that reduces to a medium to large patch of very thin film with a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of roasted and burnt malts with moderate to heavy amounts of bourbon, vanilla, and oak.

T: Moderate to strong flavors of roasted, chocolate, and burnt malts with some bittersweet chocolate notes. There are fairly strong flavors from the bourbon barrel aging of bourbon, vanilla, and lighter oakiness. Light hints of alcohol and some hints of bitterness in the finish.

M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of dryness and some alcohol warming in the finish.

O: This is a really enjoyable bourbon barrel aged beer and definitely one that I would recommend. The alcohol is relatively well hidden but this is definitely a sipping beer.

Poured into a clear glass. The color is a very dark blackish and brown mix with a noticeable alcohol aroma. The smell to me consists of chocolate, vanilla, and of course, alcohol. The 10.9% ABV brings a nice, warm taste to the experience and I look forward to the next one.

Thank you for this @arizcard
Pouring this after having my Willettized .
Big Bourbon Barrel in this one. Nice blend of leather, cherries, bitter chocolate, black coffee and subtle 'nilla. Medium mouthfeel . A great beer that Imperial Stout lovers should seek out.

Picked up a 12 oz single from TW-Greenville SC on 7-19-21 for $2.99. No bottling date; consumed 10-19-21.

Beer poured black as night with a nice tan head with the original pour.

Nose is full of roasted malts, bourbon, and leather, very nice!

Taste is a large roasted malt base with a nice warming infusion of bourbon that brings out the chocolate from the malt base along with a touch of leather and vanilla. Finishes nicely balanced and not sweet.

Mouthfeel is medium to large bodied and silky smooth like the non BA version i had yesterday.

Overall the barrel aging was beneficial making the base brew more flavorful. Definitely will watch for this next go around assuming the barrel aging release in annualized!

Pours a deep dark black color with beige edges and a half finger of head. The nose has soft bourbon notes. The bourbon is not as present in the flavor profile as the nose might indicate, but it's still there adding a sweet note to the chocolatey taste. The mouth feel is slightly sticky.

My only negative is that the big roasted notes of the base beer seem somewhat muted here.

Poured into my snifter glass out of a 11 oz. bottle. This beer pours a very dark brown, practically black color with a silky looking tan head that's about an inch thick when first poured and that settles eventually to a very thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with some cluster swirls of film layer surface foam. Decent lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, some chocolate, coffee and vanilla notes, and a nice bourbon oak presence. The taste is pretty much exactly the same, starting out with a nice roasted malt presence followed by chocolate and vanilla notes. next up is some milk sugar goodness and then the flavor profile is rounded out by some oak bourbon and a bit of a boozy note. The 10.9% ABV is very well integrated here. The coffee bitterness and a bit of an earthy hop presence comes out more as the beer warms up a bit. An excellent flavor profile. Has a slightly crisp, mostly smooth, frothy, full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. An excellent beer. Very drinkable for the style.

I got a bottle of this beer off the single shelf from my local Giant Eagle store. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had wonderful Russian stout notes with bourbon highlights. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with strong molasses, vanilla, subtle cocoa with bourbon flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

12 oz bottle with no date (pretty sure its a 2018) poured into a snifter at 56 degrees F:
L - Black as the siberian night (I've been there), head dissipated quickly
S - bourbon, and a bit of caramel
T - the bourbon hits you immediately and then the malt flavor slides in. Wonderfully balanced
F - Medium mouthfeel with slight carbonation throughout
O - great beer, 2 or so years in the flavors are still blending very well

Looks like this is from 2018. Disappointing, I don't generally think barrel-aged stouts aged particularly well.

The body and barrel notes were kinda thin, but there is plenty to like here. Some fudge, bourbon soaked cherries, and vanilla are all very nice. The finish is a bit hot with woody bitterness.

12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Assuming it’s from 2018, had 11/28/18.

Pours an opaque, deep brown with a one and a half inch thick foamy head with good retention and lots of foamy lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, molasses, bourbon, some oak and char, some vanilla and cocoa, light licorice. The flavor begins with bourbon- much more than the nose, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, char, molasses, roasted malt, oak, lighter coffee and vanilla than the aroma, some caramel and cocoa. Smooth, a little creamy, a good full body, well carbonated.

Great barrels that don’t overwhelm, a great aroma, lots of different smells and tastes. This is best fully warmed. Very enjoyable and well worth a purchase.
