The look is a dubbel masquerading as a quad - a murky mahogany brown color, underneath a tan head. Lovely. The nose is filled with toffee aromas, and there’s also a substantial vanilla component, and oaky barrel notes, too.
The taste features the toffee and vanilla flavors up front, but the headliner is the stone fruit flavors, with plums, raisins and (praise the beer godz) black cherries.
Wow. How does the brewery cram so much flavor into a 7.5% ABV beer? I’m flummoxed. This is a delight to drink.

Clear dark copper with a creamy tan collar.
This one's quite whiskey forward, with dark fruit and plum in the middle and a faint dark bread undertone.
The softly frothy medium body has quite a woody, dry finish.

750 ml bottle into chalice, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, pear, apple, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light nuttiness, and yeast/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, pear, apple, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light nuttiness, and yeast/oak earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, pear, apple, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel/yeast spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Some light-moderate dryness from carbonation and yeast/oak spice as well. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/prickly balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged dubbel style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Small lacing head, dark brown in chalice, had pretty cold, will finish review warm. A lot of bourbon, sort of a wit taste, very little heat at finish.
