This was terrible. Bottom of bottle may have shown a Julian date: 4130, which I'm afraid indicates it's a year old.
Cloudy orange, frothy foam, looks nice enough.
Smell is all gross wet grains, silage, moldy bread.
Taste is sweet then bitter. Caramel malt and dandelion green bitterness. Bleh. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Nothing special, would have to try a fresh sample to re-rate.

definitely not the best use of citra hops I can think of, and because of the hype some of their beers carry, I expected quite a bit more out of this one. its a fine brew, nothing wrong with it really, just not really anything special. surprised to see it called an ipa, I see it much more as a pale ale. almost no hop bitterness on the back end of this, or rather enough malt flavor to balance what is there, and not anywhere near as much citra as I wish their was. I can tell its citra, but they seem faded out to me, like this is old, but it isn't. lost maybe in a slightly metallic sea of grain. maybe not dosed highly enough, maybe not much of a dry hopping. the beer seems to me to be a little over balanced, cautious or something. not bad, just uninspiring. I picked this up as a single with a bunch of other beers from these guys, and I hope that the others impress a bit more. apparently newly distributed to the upstate New York area, I suspect their beers will sell pretty well here, but this one did not live up to its full potential...

This beer pours a slightly hazy bright golden color with a 1 finger fluffy white head. Retention is minimal, but lacing is excellent. The aroma is where this beer really shines. Huge amounts of citrus fruits, most notably tangerine, orange and grapefruit bursts out of the glass. The taste is similar, very citrus forward, but the malt and bitterness on the back end kind if muddle it up. Feel is light and crisp, good carbonation. Overall a very tasty beer, but could be better. Also note that citra hops are far and away my favorite, so my rating may be a little skewed.

Poured into a nonic a dull brass color with a tightly formed lacey half finger white head atop.Aromas seem to be quite sweet and sugary with a big splash of citrusy hops, almost DIPAish in nature to me.Flavors are a citrusy bomb with big sugary sweetness along with caramel, the hops are big and so is the sweetness.Wow this is as close to tasting like a DIPA at 6.5% as you can get in my opinion with it's sweetness and hops mixture.

What can be said stellar appearance when you look a the beer and the packaging, however they are jumping on the Citra bandwagon to no avail. First things first IPA is all about the balance between hop flavor, bitterness, and malt balance. This beer lacks cohesion but I'm still interested. The stats are right 95 IBUs, 6.5 abv, but taste it let it coast the palate, appears a beautiful pale copper orange hue slightly off white head leaves fine even bands of lacing no complaints. Nose has big citric notes with swelling herbaceous earthy hops exploding, after that it's minimal malt biscuit notes and pretty one dimensional. Flavor very dank citric and herbal hops providing thoughts of orange peel and marijuana...I'm not a smoker in that regards but the beer speaks for itself. Malts appear in the background a bit of biscuit malt dry finish for sure this beer is a hopheads beer, I enjoy some of the other Citra hopped beers a bit more like White Rajah and Zombie Dust just due to balance but this beer is a true hop assault. Mouthfeel is oily slick with hop resins abound carbonation carries you through the hop swamp carbonation works well at a comfortable level going down with each sip. Overall I'm proud to be drinking another Ohio brewed Citra based IPA!!!
