Received in a trade 2014 vintage. Shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice clear chestnut hue with a thin head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Aromas of loads of cheap bourbon, fair amount of woody bourbon. Some malt sweetness.

T - Taste is loads of caramel, nice sweet bourbon, good barrel notes. Malts are sweet, nice bourbon. Solid.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, thin, watery. Alcohol hidden verry well.

O - Overall this was a solid wee heavy. Decent caramel, the bourbon is a bit on the generic side.

Thanks to rudzud

Light fizzy head, dark murky molasses brown color, little lacing

Nose is interesting, bourbon candy booze and fruit, very raw young cheap bourbon, pretty much a glass of cheap bourbon, oaky, sweet candy malt, syrupy.

Taste brings sweet syrupy candy malt, reddish candy malt, caramel, etc, but tons of cheap bourbon, sweet simple sugar and molasses, loads of caramel, little toasted oak and vanilla, big bourbon finish, oaky sweet candy, basically a cheap bourbon like him beam with caramel and oak in it.

Mouth is med to syrupy fuller bod, lighter carb, no real booze, little thin.

Basically a cheap bourbon with sweet caramel oak and nothing else, not bad but not much for the beer side, yet booze hidden well.

Fantastic. Blows the other bb scotch ales that I've had away (I'm looking at you backwoods bastard and BA scotty karate).

Poured from bottle into snifter. It pours a dirty brown-cola color with a thin, ecru-colored head and lacing. The head dissipated quickly. It smells of roasted malt, oak, vanilla, peat smoke, and bourbon. It's a very appealing aroma. The taste features vanilla, caramel, molasses, oak, tobacco, and a strong dose of cherry. You can also taste the bourbon and it finishes with a slight bitterness. It starts out quite sweet but finishes with just a touch of sourness. It is medium-bodied, creamy, and lightly-carbonated. I was really surprised that the ABV is 12% because it isn't overly boozy. The bourbon taste is really mellow and pleasant. Overall, it is a well-crafted and delicious Wee Heavy. The cherry flavor gives it a different feel from any other example of the style that I've had. It's a sipper; you have to be careful because the alcohol is so well masked. It would pair well with a hearty meal or for sipping on a cool Fall afternoon with friends.

Appearance: Not what I anticipated. Looks thin. Pours a light brown color that looks dark amber in the glass. Effervescent head that quickly bubbles away. 3.5/5

Smell: Actually a lot of somewhat tart cherry for me overlying a bit of maple syrup barrel thing -- maybe even some molasses. A bit of bourbon, oak, and vanilla, but really, this smells like boozy cherries and molasses. I really dig it. 4.5/5

Taste/feel: Hits with the cherry right away before there's a rush of bourbon and booze that hits and burns a bit before some oak and vanilla come in to simmer it down. Definitely on the thin side with a surprising amount of carbonation, but I'm loving it. 4.5/5, 3.75/5

Tastes more like a bourbon and cherry cocktail than beer given its thin body and strange carbonation, but I really like it. It tastes delicious and has an excellent depth of flavor, with the cherry flavor offering a modest tannin vibe as it warms. Outstanding beer.
