Although I had scoped out Green's as the place to go while vacationing in the Myrtle beach area, my buddy who knows the area wanted to check out a place or two near Surfside first, since that was close to our digs. The guys at Surfside advised I check this place out, so off we went on a side trip.

I hadn't seen the side-by-side approach before, but here they do the spirits on one side and the beers on the other. Perusing the beer aisles, I recognized some goodies like the new White Ale from the local brewery, the Sam Adams Longshot '10 which still wasn't in Cincy yet, and of course, Dale's Pale ale, and the Old Chub as well. I gotta have the Dale's, so I pop a sixer in the cart and a Longshot.

Checking out, they couldn't get a price scan for the Dale's. The manager said 'try 1499'. I figured it was a product code - try again, it was the price. For a six-pack? 'Really?', I said? '$15 a sixer for Dales? How much is the Old Chub?'

'Oh, that's 10.99'.

Wait. That doesn't make any sense. I tell them as much and they tell me that the distributor charges that much for Dale and they lose a little bit oin that beer. Sadly, I have to put that one back, I can't afford $15 a six pack for the decent pale ale, I'm out of work after all.

Over all, not a bad place to shop for beer and/or spirits, but know your prices going in.

If you are in Pawleys Island this place offers the Best Craft Beer selection on the southern Grand Strand. the are also connected to a Liquor store so if you need to kill 2 birds with 1 stone there you go. The Staff in both stores are awesome and very knowledgable. And if you have your Carolina Craft Beers Club Card they will give you 10% off all Craft Beers.

Went while vacationing on the beach over Presidents Day weekend. Given it's the South Carolina coast, I didn't go in expecting too much in the way of craft beers but I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in. Along the full length of the wall there are shelves of six-packs and cases of quite a variety of domestic craft brews and German imports with not a macro to be seen. The back wall is made up of quite a few coolers with more cases and then two coolers entirely filled with bombers and 750ml bottles of good variety. They also have singles available for mixing at a fairly reasonable price. In the middle there are some more assorted brews and only in the back corner can you find some limited macro selections. I was very pleased with the selection and couldn't walk out with fewer than four bombers and a mixed six. The guy who checked me out seemed fairly knowledgeable about beer and asked if there was anything they could put on order for me. Overall, a nice place with a selection that's hard to beat in the area. Definitely worth dropping by for a visit.

Went into Pawleys Island W & S looking for Coast HopArt. I was out of town on business in Georgetown, and this was the only place nearby. Upon walking in I was greeted by a nice guy behind the counter who looked at me like I was an alien when I ask about Coast brewery. He had no clue it existed! I'm sure Charleston is maybe an hour or so from this store, so I knew I was in the wrong place. Pawleys Island W&S is a beer store for the AB crowd, they had a few of the mainstream craft beers, but nothing special. I did try to let the guy know what many might be looking for, and since they are close to Coast, I think he is well aware of what a great brewery he has only a few miles down the Highway.

Great selection for this area: Avery, Bell's, Founders, Terrapin, Stone, Smuttynose, Victory, Rogue, SN, Harpoon, SA, plus tons I'm forgetting now, but can't wait to try.

In the fridge - Allagash (sp?), Orval, Duvel, La Chouffe, St. Bernardus, Kasteel, Gouden Carolus, Ommegang, Brasserie de St. Sylvester, Chimay, Ayinger and much more.

Prices are comparable quite decent.

Lee is very knowledgeable, helpful and extremely nice to both the discerning beer browser/buyer as well as the more frequent tourist buying cases of yellow fizzy golfer fuel. A couple of the other employees weren't as knowledgeable, but nice all the same.

They also do some special ordering as i saw someone had ordered a case of Young's Double Chocolate that had arrived. Also got a complimentary Chimay goblet with my purchase. Thanks Lee, you rock! :-)

Located on 17 southbound in Pawley's Island. A "two-sided" store; one side with mostly beer and some wine (right side), the other side has liquor and finer wines, but no beer.
A pretty impressive selection in terms of numbers of offerings. It was my last day on the Strand, so I just bought a bottle of Delerium Tremens ($9.95). They had brews from Great Divide (no Titan or Hercules yet unfortunately, but on order), Hoegarten (spelling?), Chimay; many, many more. Just a little (well a lot) lacking in good IPA or DIPA at that moment.
No real help with browsing, but my question about more Great Divide was answered politely and quickly. Due to the poor beer selection in the entire Grand Strand area, this store is for now a standout. Next summer I expect major improvements!

Stopped in while on vacation, after running out of my beer supply that was supposed to last me all week (It made it 3 days). Very nice clean store with a decent warm selection. They are hindered by SC's nothing over 6% law which will limit you a lot. A good selection of English beers, huge stack of Sierra Nevada Pale and Summertime on display as you walk in the door. A decent mix of Harpoon and a few local beers. There was much more emphasis on the liquor/wine side of the business here, but beings how the laws are written in SC, this is very understandable. The owner was very knowledgable and helpful. He laughed when he heard my plight of beerlessness, and pointed out a few nice selections for the beach. The pricing was right where I would expect it to be.

Nothing special in this place as far as selection goes. They have one of the two breweries in Charleston represented and the one from Greenville but not Highland out of Asheville (which is probably the best brewery in the Carolinas). While I was in there browsing, the attendant talked on the phone to someone about his New Year's Eve plans (he mentioned liquor and not beer). As was recently stated, the place is wine before beer. They had a couple of beers I wouldn't have expected from a place that probably doesn't have regulars so much as just tourists. They didn't have anything I hadn't seen in South Carolina before though. Not a bad option if you're at the beach for the week and forgot to bring beer down with you (you deserve it anyway...).

Visited this place during a summer vacation. It's a wine first place, but they do have a nice selection of regional micros, some national micros and imports. What sets this place apart is the service. I was talking beer to the owner(or worker) and he said he thought I was a nice guy and gave me a bomber of Rogue Chocolate Stout on the house. That's never happened to me in my home state of NC. I highly recommend this place if your in the area. First of all there's not a lot of places to get craft beer in the area unless you drive to Myrtle. We visited three wine shops before we found this place. It was the first one that sold quality beer. The only knock I have on this place is they also sell macro swill.
