Drank from my Chimay Chalice

A - Pours a hazy murky dull copper colour with no head. To be expected for a sour I guess

S - Gin and tonic like aromas with a little sour funk.

T - Sour up front followed by yeast. An array of fruity notes follow with hints of ginger. The finish is fizzy. Very unusual but not what you would expect from a lambic.

M - Light body with fullish carbonation

O - Well this was a real surprise and glad i tried it. Not sticky at all and obviously has benefitted from a european influence.

Bottle: solid brown 330mL bottle with a very stylish (and cute) label. I particularly like the "Does not contain any real gnomes" label.

Appearance: pours a slightly hazy amber-orange with a small fading head. Limited lacing. Still, has a vibrancy that suggests a refreshing ale.

Taste: a fairly light yet fruity aroma - lemon zest, Belgian yeasts and tropical fruits. Very interesting.

Aftertaste: the fruit esters are the primary flavour with a wonderful lemon tartness and some sharp spices.

Mouth feel: the flavours linger through well but drop off sufficiently enough to allow a strong drinkability. Lovely.

Overall: Purrumbete Brewing have once again provided a unique and sensational brew. Well worth the while. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite new breweries.

From Beer Cartel. No BB

Gusher. I saved 66-75% of the beer.

A - pale straw - nice dense one finger head. One point off for gush.

S - moderate funk but mainly Belgian yeast, lemons. ANother reviewer notes G&T aromas which I concur with.

T - this is not a Lambic. Straight into Belgian Strong Ale territory. There is a hint of funk/Brett to start with which oddly dissapates as the beer sits in the glass.

M - lively and zesty and to style.

O - what do you want from a Belgian Golden Lambic Ale? It didn't deliver for me. I recall the previous collab to be better but I have just re-read my notes and that had carbonation issues as well. I think Red Duck should focus more on a solid core range and leave some of the experimentaion.

Very slightly hazy. Bright golden colour and small white head. Pretty good.

Lightly fruity aroma with touches of tartness and bits of lemon. Nice, very light spice. Very good.

Moderately fruity with some light esters. Moderate Brettanomyces notes with a light tartness too. There is some clear pale malt notes as well.

Moderately-light body with moderately-strong carbonation. Good.

A solid Belgian Pale Ale. Lightly tart and quite refreshing. Not bad at all.
