Pours pale amber with a fading head.
Nose shows doughy wheat, banana and spicy phenols that bring it back to Belgian territory.
More doughy wheat as a flavour, along with some sweet malt, a little booze and spicy, earthy hops.
Carbonation really should be higher.

Appearance is unremarkable; very thin head, murky dull tan brown with some lightening at the bottom of the glass. Nose is beautfilly structured and clean fruited. Apricots and passionfruit abound. Some alcohol lift perhaps with a darker aniseed note. Palate is very clean with well defined passionfruit and aniseed. Perhaps fizz is a touch too high and does give the impression that the flavours tail off. Regardless a pretty solid beer.

This pours a very hazy dark golden amber colour. A decent sized head with some good retention. Quite a bit of sediment left in the bottle.

Some sweet bubblegum aromas.

Maltiness dominates the palate. Doesn't really do it for me.

Medium bodied with some creaminess.

Not my fave style of beer but this ok.

Pours a murky orange with a strong fluffy white head that persists well.

Spicy nose with plenty of yeast derived notes in there - bubblegum and other sweets. Very "Belgian" in style there is a real lack of hops and malt which is actually a good thing in this case.

Palate flavours are also spicy, with a little trace of cocoa or perhaps even a little roast in there. Interesting, but not overly flavoursome. Good bitterness levels.

Palate is full, balanced and creamy (as appears to be the case for most if not all Red Hill beers) but it appears to be a little thin in flavour.

Quality, well made Belgian style, just lacking oomph! Will try again, however.

On tap at The Local Taphouse 8/2/08.
A - Poured into the Red Hill glass a slightly hazy orange colour with a couple of centimetres of fluffy white head. Decent rings of lacing are left right down the glass.
S - Some spicy, yeasty phenols & a bit of biscuit maltiness.
T - Yeasty phenols also in the taste giving a slight clove like note. The buscuit from the smell is more noticeable and a bit sweet.
M - Medium bodied, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Medium carbonation.
D - Another decent drop from Red Hill. Not my favourite from them but complex enough to be interesting. If you can get it then do so.
