Petes Wicked Ales were some of the first craft/non-Bud style beers that started me on the road to realy good beer. This one has a light golden yellow color with a small soapy white head which fades out quickly. There is not much in the aroma except a very mild cereal like gain with a faint citrus like hops in the background. This is exactly what my tongue picks up on in the flavor which comes on a light thin palate. Overall it was just an easy drinking so so beer.

Yellow beer, lots of haze, unexpectedly. White head, frothy. Aroma, more like spring, that lemon fresh laundry scent.

Taste, surprisingly bitter, the zesty hop feel pops its head up but quickly fades into a dry mouthfeel. One dimensional, but I see people far worse stuff around the pool or ballfield. Think of it as a palate cleanser.

Reviewed from some more old notes. Pete's Summer poured out a clear, fizzy, golden yellow color with a two-finger, white head of foam. It actually left some sudsy lace. It smelled of lemon, grains and some caramel malt. Lemon flavor dominated to a bad degree. It had a grainy flavor with some mild caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel is good. It was crisp and sharp with a dry finish. Overall, the lemon flavor was overbearing and made it tough to drink.

A: Poured a pale yellow color, with a thin white head.

S: On the nose was some lemons/ citrus. moderatly boring and moderate in strength.

T: light, with a moderately redeeming flowery hop tang from the tettnanger. There was some light lemongrass notes lingering but is the fresh flowery hopping of the tettnanger that gives this some credibility. Finishes dry and crisp but rather bland overall flavor wise.

M: dry, light with a slight creaminess.

D: average at best if not a little below. like drinking a macro-lawnmower beer that one doesn't expect to much from.

pours with a decent head, some slight lemon and honey in the nose ... pours a murky golden colour .. taste shows some of the age, but does have some nice honey flavours... lacing is quite nice too ... for the $2 i paid for this sixer a good deal, but this beer is done...

Light color of straw/yellow. Foamy head, not much to it to hold it long. I guess it isn't bad looking but if a beer is lighter, I want to see a head hold on it longer.

Smells like a summer beer. Light and citrusy with pronounced lemon and a little, very little spice.

Also pretty light in the taste but there are some nice hops in there with the lemon again. No need to add any zest into this one.

Feels good in your mouth. Not too tingly or spicy at all. Easy to drink more than one and not too filling.

For a summer beer, it fits the season and is better than your average lawnmowing beer. Refreshes well but is not a session beer by any means. Hot and sweaty and don't want a macro? Try this one.

And it has the cool baseball motiff.

This one was a yellow brew with a short foamy head that died rather quickly. A bit of a disappointing presentation.

The aroma was of aromatic hops and lemons. Lemon was very pronounced.

The taste was initially quite hoppy, although not bitter, then a lemon aftertaste.

This one was OK. Straight average.

Slightly hazed yellow-gold with fine, steady carbonation. The crown is a shade darker than pure white, is semi-stiff and a little chunky. It subsides fairly quickly and leaves mere wisps of lace. The nose is mildly earthy hoppy more than citrusy, but I can pick out the lemon.

Flavor and mouthfeel are a letdown. The flavor is inoffensive as far as it goes. Summer Brew has a lemony, slightly hoppy vibe that falls apart roughly two seconds after beer enters mouth. The whole shootin' match then deflates into a one-dimensional, watery muddle that, thankfully, doesn't linger.

I like the idea of a relatively light, crisp, lemony, summertime lager and would love to find one. I didn't find it in Pete's Wicked Summer Brew, though. Not even close.

Pete's wicked summer brew

Poured a yellow/ copper with a decent head that dissapated rather quickly.
Smell was somewhat of corn and lemon. A little skunkiness to it.
Taste was actually decent. A light lemon twist with a weak flavor of malt.
Mouthfeel was very watery little carbonation.

Overall, a very light beer that could be consumed in mass quantities. A summer brew that you could drink in the hot afternoons. If offered to me I would take, but I wouldn't buy.

Out of the Pete's Wicked sampler pack that I had, this was the most disappointing (moreso than the Red Rush perhaps). This Summer Brew is a wheat beer with a hint of lemon, and that wouldn't sound too bad on a hot summer day. Too bad I've had club sodas with lemon that had more character than this.

Beer pours a light golden color with a thin, fizzy head that disappears in under 20 seconds. The mouthfeel is way too thin and fizzy. Smell has some very light malt and wheat smell, some generic citrus/bitter smell is present. There is some light malt and wheat flavors present, but it all seems much too bland. Generic bitter citrus flavor throughout that meshes with the hop bitterness in the finish, lending a slight drying effect. Aftertaste has some continued dryness and bitterness, and it finishes out with no alcoholic warmth.

This beer did not impress me at all. While I wasn't hugely impressed with Sam Adams Summer Ale, I would certainly choose it over this offering from Pete's.

This is one of the better Pete's brews. It pours a nice yellow colour with a white head. The aromas are all lemon, ginger, and sweet malts and hops. The taste is sweet, a bit hoppy and very light. The mouthfeel is very carbonated and the drinkability is decent.

This was an easy, crisp, clean and drinkable beer.It was on the ordinary side, but not that bad.It had small sized off-white head that quickly dissipated. The body was clear with carbonation. The hue was golden and it had a sweet lemony and hoppy nose. The flavor was hoppy and it was bitter tasting from start to finish. It had a smooth, thin, watery texture and a light body. The lacing was fair.

ah, pete's summer brew. i used to hate it. it was one of my least liked beers. it was waaay to lemony. then they semmingly toned things down a bit and it wasn't bad for a while. now, they toned things down even more (around the time of the bottle/label change, i think) and it's just not a good beer. it pours a light amber colour with a minimal, boring head. smells of grain and a bit of lemon, and also a bit of metal which is strange becuase this was out of a bottle, but oh well. this brew is just plain boring. there is no character and hardly any flavour. one of my least favourite summer beers.

The beer pours a tawny amber gold, with a thick crop of white foam atop. The head dissipates, although the active carbonation keeps a thin ring going all the way through the glass.
Aroma is mildly malty, with a fairly agressive hopping, particularly for wheat beer. Slight citric aroma, a little bit like that lemon juice that comes in the green and yellow plastic lemon shaped container. Astringent and a bit fake smelling. Some wheat, with a grainy malt aroma.
Flavor is decent, but lackluster and half assed. I was expecting some more interesting hoppiness, but it's more pronounced in the aroma. A strange lemon flavor towards the middle, like they added lemon juice after fermentation. Malts are bland and unnoticable. Light bodied with vigorous carbonation. Fairly dry finish, with an astringent aftertaste. Not terrible, something I'd drink if someone offered it to me.

I orignally sampled this on 1 May 2003. I am writing this review from my notes.
There was nothing memorable about this beer. It is clear golden colored with some hoppy flavor up front. The overall flavor is slightly sweet. This is a thoroughly mediocre beer. I'd suggest finding a better 'summer' beer, if you're looking for one. There are plenty of good hefe weizens out there, for example

Pours a medium golden color with a light head aromas of malt and slight wheatiness to it.The taste is somewhat crisp with a definent malt backbone with ctruisy finish.Hey most of Petes beers are pretty bad but this one is pretty drinkable on a hot August day,and $2.00 a pint at the local pub.

Pours to a clear golden color with a white head. The aroma is light wheat, and grain. The hop aroma is pretty much unnoticeable. The flavor is light wheat with a light spiciness and a barely detectable lemon flavor. It is light-bodied and easy drinking, that is about it on this one.

I had a few of these at my friends cottage a few weekends ago. We were playing some intense badminton and I would drink it to quench my thirst. It tasted better than water and actually quenched my thirst quite nicely. I tried some more yesterday to see how it was when I wasn't as thirsty. I realized that this really is not that good of a beer. Citric taste mixed with some non descript spices. Flavors are mild. Beer is crisp but mild in body. Good replacement for water during badminton matches, but not good for much else.

I've got to hand it to the makers of this beer, the packaging is great and it's a decent summer lager when your choices are slim. The sample I had was brewed in either Tumwater, WA or Eden, NC. It pours a clear amber body which reveals tiny bubbles rising steadily towards its short but creamy white head. The retention is fairly good and it leaves some nice lace throughout the glass. The nose delivers some sweet, caramel-tinged wheat malt that's nice, but there's a bit of an earthy/mineral/metallic edge to it as well. Occassionally, a flash of lemon can be detected - though it's well-restrained throughout the entire beer. The body is medium and combines with its fine carbonation to leave it lightly creamy across the palate. The wheat returns in the flavor, but it's much less malty than the aroma would lead you to believe. Most likely, the lemon flavoring is balancing it out. The metallic note also returns (and may also be due to the addition of lemon flavoring), but it's not really off-putting. Ironically, the lemon itself doesn't really come through. There's a light note of it at the swallow, but that gradually disappears as some husky dryness emerges in the short-lingering finish. And although there aren't very many hops in the flavor, some actually do appear in the burp. Overall, it's got some flavor to it and makes an easy drinking companion when your paying more attention to the activities going on around you (BBQ, baseball, etc.) than the beer you're drinking. Not really worth seeking out, but give it a shot if you come across it.

The beer poured a golden color with a thin bone white head. The nose was of a typical lager brew; pale malts, bitter hops, and not much else. The taste was decent. There is a bit of lemon zest here. I guess this is supposed to be the "summer" flavor they are going for. Anyway, the mouthfeel was a little much for me, but it drank well. This is not one that I will buy alone. I just happened to pick it up in a Pete's sample pack.

This beer poured a clear golden with a nice fluffy white head. The head retention was okay and left a nice lace on the glass. The aroma was very light. The taste had a bite of citrus, but after a couple sips, the malt crept onto the palatte. The mouthfeel was light and smooth. This beer was not particularly impressive and I won't be ordering it again any time soon. It was not bad, but not so good that it asked for a revisit.

A deep golden yellow is the color of this beer. It gives off to a OK white head that fades quickly. The aroma is malt hops and a hint of lemon. Couldnt detect any hops. The taste is a dead match for the aroma. The hint of lemon at the end gives this beer a clean crisp finish. Easy to drink and light on taste buds. I wish there was more of a hop flavor present. A slightly above average brew

Cool label. Makes ya wanna kick back and watch some baseball while swigging this refreshing brew. It's a shiny gold color, crystal clear, with an enormous head that fades fast. There's not much of an aroma, just some sweet malts and a tiny bit of lemon. Lemon comes through stronger in the flavor but is still bland. I don't think bland is a bad thing for a beer such as this one though. Grainy flavors with a touch of lemon.....that's good enough combined with a crisp slightly hoppy finish to make for a very refreshing brew.

A light amber body that is quite clear. A two finger ivory head appears on the pour, but it is quite full of air and dissipates rapidl. The nose is of malt and perhaps a bit of hops lurking in the background. The feel is good and gives a nice sense of crispness to the finish. Somewhat spicy and citrusy flavors appear in the taste. There is very good balance to this beer. This is a refreshing and thirst quenching formula.

This summer Lager has a clear brassy color with a foamy, fast dissipating white head. The lace slides away leaving the glass virtually clean. Not much aroma other than bread and mild citrusy hops. The medium wheaty malt is thicker than expected and balanced well with the light lemony hops. Clean and refreshing, lightly sweet. A beer for summer nights with baseball on the radio.
