The beer poured a golden color with a thin bone white head. The nose was of a typical lager brew; pale malts, bitter hops, and not much else. The taste was decent. There is a bit of lemon zest here. I guess this is supposed to be the "summer" flavor they are going for. Anyway, the mouthfeel was a little much for me, but it drank well. This is not one that I will buy alone. I just happened to pick it up in a Pete's sample pack.

Pours a medium golden color with a light head aromas of malt and slight wheatiness to it.The taste is somewhat crisp with a definent malt backbone with ctruisy finish.Hey most of Petes beers are pretty bad but this one is pretty drinkable on a hot August day,and $2.00 a pint at the local pub.

Pours a sturdy amber coloured beer with golden hues and a thin creamy laced head -- had to pour some for the appearance.

Smell is quite light, musty and metallic. Faint artificial lemon aroma.

Creamy palate, with a distinct adjunct flavour of something cheap, oh and wheat, which tastes out of place and unbalanced. Not a whole hell of a lot of malt character. Metallic. Loads of husky, dry tannins -- very unpleasant.

Bland and cheap tasting ... hence its $3.99 a 6pak price tag. I've had this in the bottle, it was okay. Good to suck back in the heat. In the can, I'll pass ... and dump the rest down the drain.

Petes Wicked Ales were some of the first craft/non-Bud style beers that started me on the road to realy good beer. This one has a light golden yellow color with a small soapy white head which fades out quickly. There is not much in the aroma except a very mild cereal like gain with a faint citrus like hops in the background. This is exactly what my tongue picks up on in the flavor which comes on a light thin palate. Overall it was just an easy drinking so so beer.

Presentation: 12 oz short twist with no freshness date.

Appearance: Pale golden with a spritzy white lace.

Smell: Hints of lemon peel and pale malt.

Taste: Smooth and crisp with some grainy malt flavour, faint lemon, hint of fruitiness and a mellow hop bitterness that has a spicy bite to it. A bit more lemon in the finish then it goes quite clean.

Notes: A little one dimensional yet does the job it was created to do ... quench ones thirst on a hot summer day and it does just that. Nice hopping with the Tettnang.

A nice light bodied beer for summer. It poured pretty average, a little darker yellow than the regular Pete's. Taste is thin, with light malty characteristics. A little fruity in nature. I couldn't taste the hops. This is not bad. I think I might try this as a "lawnmower" beer.

Yellow beer, lots of haze, unexpectedly. White head, frothy. Aroma, more like spring, that lemon fresh laundry scent.

Taste, surprisingly bitter, the zesty hop feel pops its head up but quickly fades into a dry mouthfeel. One dimensional, but I see people far worse stuff around the pool or ballfield. Think of it as a palate cleanser.

Time to clear the deck on all these light "summer brews"...

Clear gold with a 1/2 inch head that looks suspiciously foamy and "adjuncted"...slightly yeasty aroma, a little lemon. Frail malt flavor other than sweet, but restrained hop as well. Lemony finish, but with a citric note that seems a little artificial in taste and more of an add-on than integrated with the flavor. A little clove in mid mouth. Not very interesting but I was expecting worse.

Pete's wicked summer brew

Poured a yellow/ copper with a decent head that dissapated rather quickly.
Smell was somewhat of corn and lemon. A little skunkiness to it.
Taste was actually decent. A light lemon twist with a weak flavor of malt.
Mouthfeel was very watery little carbonation.

Overall, a very light beer that could be consumed in mass quantities. A summer brew that you could drink in the hot afternoons. If offered to me I would take, but I wouldn't buy.

I've got to hand it to the makers of this beer, the packaging is great and it's a decent summer lager when your choices are slim. The sample I had was brewed in either Tumwater, WA or Eden, NC. It pours a clear amber body which reveals tiny bubbles rising steadily towards its short but creamy white head. The retention is fairly good and it leaves some nice lace throughout the glass. The nose delivers some sweet, caramel-tinged wheat malt that's nice, but there's a bit of an earthy/mineral/metallic edge to it as well. Occassionally, a flash of lemon can be detected - though it's well-restrained throughout the entire beer. The body is medium and combines with its fine carbonation to leave it lightly creamy across the palate. The wheat returns in the flavor, but it's much less malty than the aroma would lead you to believe. Most likely, the lemon flavoring is balancing it out. The metallic note also returns (and may also be due to the addition of lemon flavoring), but it's not really off-putting. Ironically, the lemon itself doesn't really come through. There's a light note of it at the swallow, but that gradually disappears as some husky dryness emerges in the short-lingering finish. And although there aren't very many hops in the flavor, some actually do appear in the burp. Overall, it's got some flavor to it and makes an easy drinking companion when your paying more attention to the activities going on around you (BBQ, baseball, etc.) than the beer you're drinking. Not really worth seeking out, but give it a shot if you come across it.

With summer over, I was cleaning out my fridge and I noticed a "stray" bottle of this. Being about noon, I decided to make this my first beer of the day. Refreshing as always with a tint of lemon. The wheat taste is barely noticeable, almost lacking. Definetely for summer only.

For a Wheat beer, Pete’s Wicked Summer Brew is unimpressive. If I was not to attach a style to this beer, I could find some of its qualities redeeming. First of all, it is refreshing and easy to drink, the lemon in the nose does seem natural, and the overall taste is fine. I could see this beer being a good choice on a hot day. Also I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of lacing.

But the nose (aside from the lemon) is one-dimensional, light malt. I don’t prefer the creaminess in the mouthfeel on this one. I don’t find it appropriate for the style. Some hops are noticeable as well. By the way, it pours a light yellow with a small white head (1/2 of an inch).

I think this beer has a niche but it is probably not for me. With so many wonderful Wheat (or summery) Beers why drink this one?

A deep golden yellow is the color of this beer. It gives off to a OK white head that fades quickly. The aroma is malt hops and a hint of lemon. Couldnt detect any hops. The taste is a dead match for the aroma. The hint of lemon at the end gives this beer a clean crisp finish. Easy to drink and light on taste buds. I wish there was more of a hop flavor present. A slightly above average brew

This was an easy, crisp, clean and drinkable beer.It was on the ordinary side, but not that bad.It had small sized off-white head that quickly dissipated. The body was clear with carbonation. The hue was golden and it had a sweet lemony and hoppy nose. The flavor was hoppy and it was bitter tasting from start to finish. It had a smooth, thin, watery texture and a light body. The lacing was fair.

A: Poured a pale yellow color, with a thin white head.

S: On the nose was some lemons/ citrus. moderatly boring and moderate in strength.

T: light, with a moderately redeeming flowery hop tang from the tettnanger. There was some light lemongrass notes lingering but is the fresh flowery hopping of the tettnanger that gives this some credibility. Finishes dry and crisp but rather bland overall flavor wise.

M: dry, light with a slight creaminess.

D: average at best if not a little below. like drinking a macro-lawnmower beer that one doesn't expect to much from.

Very clear beer, with a nice white head. Head stayed, which is a good sign. Not much to this beer though. Very light, with faint fruit flavors. Mellow and probably meant to be consumed en mass. Sort of thin, but pleasant. Light on the hops. One of the lightest beers I have had in a while

Pours a crystal clear bright yellow color with a thin white fizz that departs very quickly. I've had soda that holds a head better than the Pete's brews. Surprisingly enough there is actually some slightly husky wheaty grain aromas coming off of this but there isn't much else. Slight sweetness, although I can't figure out what from, is the first impression on the tongue. This is then followed up by some more light wheat flavors. Fairly crisp and refreshing, this is the best brew out of the 5 beer sampler so far. This wouldn't be a bad lawnmower beer.

The brew promised exactly what it delivered. A light summer weather beer, not very hoppy or bitter. I could taste the lemony
flavor, was slightly fruity but not overpowering. Usually I prefer
heavier tasting beer, but I enjoyed the refreshing taste.
Would be a good hot weather beverage.

ah, pete's summer brew. i used to hate it. it was one of my least liked beers. it was waaay to lemony. then they semmingly toned things down a bit and it wasn't bad for a while. now, they toned things down even more (around the time of the bottle/label change, i think) and it's just not a good beer. it pours a light amber colour with a minimal, boring head. smells of grain and a bit of lemon, and also a bit of metal which is strange becuase this was out of a bottle, but oh well. this brew is just plain boring. there is no character and hardly any flavour. one of my least favourite summer beers.

Clear yellow to golden color, fizzy white head, faded quickly. Mostly grainy smell with subtle hoppiness inside. Nice beer taste, decent malt sweetness, noticable hops finish and nice crisp refreshing lemon taste all the way through. Medium to thin, easy to drink and very light and refreshing. I really thought this was a good beer. It is what it claims to be, an easy to drink, lite summer lager. Fine by me.

Clear golden amber color on the pour, impressive head, decent lace, and both light beige in color. Malt nose, sweet start, fairly light top, the finish is clean, crisp, pleasant hop spicy bite, pertinent carbonation, droughty aftertaste. As craft beers go, I think it is quite drinkable, and does make a good session beer.
