The amber color was appealing, but the lack of head detracted from the appearance. The smell was a nutty malt, and the flavor was more of a grainy malt with some (strawberry?) fruitiness, but with a hop bite that balanced the sweetness well. The mouthfeel was slightly above average and it is a very drinkable beer. A decent Oktoberfest, but not one of the best ones.

I have the pint glass! It looks cool! Alright now we'll get to the less exciting aspects of this beer.
Pete's mostly made mildly malty smooth low ibu type beers, so an Oktoberfest seems to be right in their wheelhouse. This one poured an even maltier appearance than their flagship brown ale. Generally you'd expect it to be the other way around. Had a 3/5" off white head with good retention. Thought it hit the usual stride for style, some mild breadiness, nuttiness and caramel/toffee impressions. I mean, that's the guidelines. . .
Taste more of the same, stayed away from a heavier viscosity or roast feel, managed to keep it in that toffeebread feels without going into porter/stout dark roast scorch heft territory. You could bitch about the American hops used, but the result was relatively minimal like all their beers hop wise, so it really didn't turn this into some stylistic abomination like one might assert just looking at the recipe. Now the yeast, who knows whether this was an ale or a lager, so that I could understand, either way, it was pretty neutral.

Darker amber appearance with a little brown thrown in, not much head even though it seems quite carbonated. Bready aroma with nutmeg.
Taste, thinner than appearance, has a cooking seasoning feel to it, you can taste all the little flavorings in the cupboard like nutmeg and sage. Lots of toffee flavor to this one. Lacking hops, which is to style, but was also a little creamier than style (among other things like the spice rack feel).
Well the old school pint glass of this looks cool, even if the beer isn't the most impressive.

Definately my favorite of the Pete's Wicked brews. Great flavor with an even better aftertaste. I have had better octoberfest beers but this one is high up on my list. Just as good if not better than the major imports and it will save you a couple of bucks as well, thank you Pete!

Once I saw this one sitting at my local six-pack shop, I figured, what the hell, why not? Some kind of code on the neck of the 12 oz. bottle, but no freshness date.
A surprisingly rich-looking amber-copper brew spewed from the bottle, complete with a foamy and long-lasting head. The aroma was of roasted malts, carmalized sweetness and even some floral notes in the nose. Decent caramel sweetness in the flavor. All in all, a nice representation of this style.
Zum wohl!

Reddish amber with an off-white head that soon turns into a collar.
Aroma is malty with a heavy sour note
Fairly carbonated, kind of slippery medium body
Bready malt with a definite sour note. Almost no hops anywhere. Most of the bitter comes from carbonation rather than hops.
Unfortunately I feel the same way about most Pete's products, Not impressed.

Copper colored with a full tan head, good carbonation, slow bubbles throughout, and leaves lace rings. Light malty, toasty, and nutty aroma -- suprisingly nice. Flavor is nice but very average for style with light spiciness and nutiness. Medium bodied and creamy.
May be my favorite Pete's so far since the Wicked Ale has lost character over the years... Very suprised to see this was brewed with just Caramel malts... not as caramel sweet and I would have expected.
Per label: "Bavarian Style Celebration Ale" .... I wonder if it is really an Ale vs. a Lager ???
Per Pete's website:
INGREDIENTS
MALTS: CARAMEL
HOPS: YAKIMA CLUSTER, CASCADE AND TETTNANG
BREWING SPECIFICATIONS
ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 5.8%
ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 14.1 DEGREES PLATO
IBU: 22

Ok bought in the 12 oz long neck..I like the label..looks like a great party going on!
Anyway this is quite a nice looking Marzen..dark amber with a smallish off white head..nice carbonation..head goes fast but leaves attractive lace.
Smell is rather odd though..a creamy milky aroma..with some nice malt in the background...strange but not offensive.
Not too bad a taste for Pete's..nice malts..at first not toosweet and a small hop bitterness at the end.
pretty average on the palate.
quite drinkable..not bad really

Appearance Light brown in color, almost florescent, with a cheap foaming head that is out of control.
Smell Im not sure what that smell is. Its kind of like crappy, toasted grain. Whatever it is, its not Oktoberfest.
Taste Ughh! This sucks.
Mouthfeel Its actually kind of creamy smooth.
Drinkability This was just horrible.

Copper colored with an off-white head that runs away quickly. Aroma is sweet malt with bits of orange. Flavor is light sweet malt, some caramel and toffee, and a bit of honey. Some orange peel in the finish. Very nice round mouthfeel, but a lingering metallic flavor detracts from this one overall.

Another favorite of mine from Pete's. I had a hard time finding
this one last fall?? Slightly sweet and nutty and its so refreshing
served up cold. I'm sure there are many many great beers better than
this style but its one of my favorite's of Petes, I'm a rookie at this
but I love Oktoberfest beers and continue to sample them. I bet it would be even better on tap.
