Poured from the bottle into a pils style glass. Best before Feb 2nd 2015.

A fizzy snapping sounding forming head out of the bottle, with a very light tan color. Dissolves very quickly to a soapy collar. Body color is a nice amber chestnut, with a bit of orange towards the bottom.

Classic beechwood smoke and aromas, with the smoke a bit more subtle. An interesting hint of salinity on this it seems, with light hints of jerky meat. Just real inviting as well.

Palate is surprisingly caramel sweet. Some interesting sugars and light smoke quality, but very subtle. Palate is almost seltzery but the malts cut through with good notes of sausage and meat. Mouthfeel is very thin and watery a bit for a rauch, leaving less to be desired for a malt backbone.

Touting itself as a gold medal winner over and over, I've had better. It's ok in the end.

50cl swing top bottle poured into my Spaten Seidel

A- Mahogany body with ruby highlights. 4 finger off white creamy head reduces quickly to a crown with average lacing. Body has excellent clarity.

S- A delicate smoked note in the beginning. Reminds me of a creamy Austrian smoked cheese with an air dried smoked ham. Some sweet toffee/biscuity malts.

T- Smoke dominates but remains delicate. A nice biscuity malt base throughout resulting in a clean lager finish. No impression of hops really at all. Typical Franken style.

M- The delicateness of the smoke lends itself to a lovely moderate carbonation that has a creaminess to it, especially noticeable in the finish. Superb.

D- This stuff is superb. A fantastic level of smoke leading to a typical Franken biscuity malt quality. Id like just a suggestion of hop in the finish.The mouthfeel is perfect - delicate, creamy yet lager clean in the finish. I could drink this all day. No surprise this has won a few awards!

From the half liter flip top bottle, it pours a brownish amber with a lovely head that stays a while. The nose detects a nice bit of smoke over the malt. The mouth tastes a medium smokey malty beer. Yum!
