TGIF...M_THER F_CKERS!!! I know...I know....why start a weekend out with a somewhat crappy beer. Well I will tell you why...it has been sitting in the fridge and needed to clear space for some good shit!!! Anyway.... the color is clear Amber...and that's good cuz this is an amber ale! Thin head, no lacing, lotsa carbonation. The taste is ok, first sip you can taste the alcohol over the grain and malt....its not tooo bad I suppose. It is easy drinkin...could take this beer on in a Session easily.

Picked this beer up on a whim at the local Jewel Osco for $7. Twist off bottlecap, beer pours a light-medium brown color, with a decent amount of effervescence and little to no lacing, with a quickly dissapated whitish head. Beer smells very clean, not much nose but what is there is some faint dark fruits, nothing too special going on there. Beer tastes slightly nutty, vagely soapy, and a bit sweet from the malts. Again, nothing too special going on here, just tastes pretty restrained, like a Macro version of an amber ale. Overall I am glad I only paid what I did for this beer. Pretty boring.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into pint glass.

A: Rich orange, amber color, with a thin head that disapears quickly into soapy looking foam. Minimal lacing occurring on side of glass while drinking. Active carbonation.

S: Scent is hard to determine for me. Fruit?

T: Kind of sweet upfront quickly turning into pretty bland overall taste. Small hop flavor.

M: Tickles the tongue a bit with carbonation. Medium to light mouthfeel.

D: Easy to drink, but not that interesting. Like with most beers, I am glad to have tried it, but this one I won't buy again.

My understanding is this beer is only available at Jewel/Albertson's grocery chain, as it is produced exclusively for the retailer.

Picked up a 6 pack at Albertson's, so obviously poured from a bottle. The beer pours a cloudy orange-amber color with a constant stream of bubbly carbonation. No head to speak of. The beer smells of a strong, sweet malty backbone, with dark fruit and raisin highlights. It is very sharp on crisp on the forward tongue, almost abrasive. The flavors sneak in behind the feel, blooming with a sweet caramel, fruit, and mildly sour blend. The finish is very crisp, just like the forward feel, and has very faint grapefruit/citrus notes. Mildly malty-sour aftertaste that lingers in mouth. Easy to drink, and would likely go well with very spicy foods.

Poured from a bottle during an Amber tasting session

A-Amongst the brews we were pulling, this seemed to have the most pleasant amber color. Very nice lacing.

S-Lots of raisin bread and wonderful malt.

T-Nice caramel malt notes. I get a little bit of banana on the back of the tongue.

M-I felt the mouthfeel was lacking. While there were flavors that continued to linger, there was nothing eye-popping about this one.

D-Soft, pleasant beer. Good for a session but there are others I might choose over this.

Poured into 12oz glass. Poured a hazy honey yellow color with an almost non-existent head, so obviously no lacing either. The aroma was slightly sweet, otherwise neutral.

The taste was mostly bland, none of the smooth malt I look for in this style, with a strong tingle of hops at the end. The body was a little on the thin side for this style. The body was more carbonated than the pour had led me to expect.

Overall, this was not a terrible beer, but not an overly good one either. If you happen to find this and your other craft brew options are limited you could live with this beer. On the other hand, if your in the mood for this style, you can do better.

22 oz. bomber poured into a Dogfish Head signature glass (January 20, 2010). No 'bottled on' date. I picket this up at a local Jewel-Osco grocery store in a clearance bin, so I'm not expecting this to be exactly fresh.

Eyes: Upon opening a foam gusher pushed up out of the bottle, the amount lost was about an ounce. Pours a nice copper/amber color. Despite the minor gush upon opening, almost one finger head forms.

Nose: Malty and a soft bread smell, but not very potent or complex. Is the aroma faded due to age?

Tongue: Soft toasty malts and a very small hop presence, not bad. Doesn't seem to be old despite the bottle's history.

Mouth: Moderate carbonation even after the gushing, nice and smooth.

Libation: As I stated I bought this out of a bargain bin, but it had good drinkability overall. There is nothing exceptionally flawed with this beer that I can tell, but it is very average. It does have potential though, so I'll have to make a point to get a fresh version and re-review this one.

Another one coming out of the $1 cart parked near the register.
Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a tall Weiss glass.

Nice reddish brown color with a light array of bubbles throughout looked very appealing and what I like in an amber ale. An inch of head that drained slowly leaving behind very little lacing.

Smell was a little fruit, a little hop and a lot of malt.

Expecting the sweet caramel and malt characteristics i usually enjoy in an amber I would surprised at how much hop character was present. It was sharper and tangier than any amber I have had before.

At face value, I would say it is not a bad beer, but I was forced to sip it a lot slower than I thought I would.

Roomie found this for $1.50 a bomber at Alberstons awile back.
Poured from a bomber into an ice cold mug. Average copper in appearance. Seems a little thin. There a nice frothy eggshell color head. Pretty decent lacing start to finish. Nothing to brag about though.
Smell is kind of weak with a bit of hops and a slight hint of grapfruit.
Taste is thin. Smooth start with a thick malty finish. Aftertaste retains the funky malt leaving you with a dry throat.
This beer was a good deal for what we got it for and I wouldnt mind buying more at the same price. Theres nothing fancy about it although its a good drinkable beer. I doubt ill see it win any awards anytime soon.

The color when poured was medium light amber brown with medium amount of foam with very little lace retention. The flavor had a caramel flavor with a hint of roasted malts. Overal, like the bottle says, "Brewed with toasted amger malts and robust flavor". Nice pleasant flavor and a well balanced.

Out of a bomber this beer was a cloudy amber color with one finger of khaki head. The retention was sub-standard and the lacing no better. The aroma was of toasted malt and light caramel malt. The flavors were more of the same, a little better defined plus some hints of wood and bread, but still unimpressive. The mouthfeel was boring but the body and carbonation of median levels so it was easy to drink. Balanced and drinkable is not bad for how cheap it was ($2.79 for a bomber) but otherwise... eh.

From the 650 ml. bottle with no obvious lot code or expiration date. Sampled on July 10, 2009. The pour was a rusty-copper tone with a thin head and a bit hazy/cloudy. The aroma was mainly sweet with a kind of malted/hoppy mixture as a chaser. The taste tended to be more biutter than anything else. It finished slightly dry and hoppy. An adequate brew.

Caramel amber with a creamy off white head that settles to a thin cap and lasts. Smells of toffee and light caramel maltiness then steely with a bit of pear like fruitiness. Tastes of mild fruit and sweet roasty malt. Light bodied with lively carbonation. An okay session beer thats a little to laid back IMO.

I poured this, in an act of unorthodoxy, into a stemless red wine tumbler. I do not regret my choice.

A - Perfectly clear copper honey color. Thin head, little retention. no lacing.

S - Toasted malts, grains, Very very very light sweet/fruity elements.

T - I really liked this beer. It is extremely refreshing, but it's enough to be interesting. Toasty malts are way out front, but there are some really subtle berry notes way up in the treble clef. Light hop character.

M - good

D - This is a fairly simple beer, unassuming. it's tasty, and refreshing, and I could drink them all night long.

12 oz brown bottle with twist cap and best by date (10-11-08)

Appearance: Pours a nice thick white head and a moderately clear amber. Ring of foam left around the edge with some lace on the surface, but no lacing on the glass.

Aroma: Candy sugars, green coffee beans (unroasted), toffee, and plywood.

Palate: Medium-light mouthfeel, almost a slight acidity, low carbonation and the flabby mouthfeel of a beer that's past its prime. Flavors of burnt sugar, hardwoods, and not much else.

Notes: I didn't realize this beer was out of code when I bought it and am disappointed to see that even though it's only a little ways out, it's showing signs of fatigue. No fault of the brewer, just the distributor (I know it's not the store, because they just got it in). Have to re-try when it's fresh.

Pours a nice reddish-amber color with a very thin head and what seems to be low carbonation.

Aroma is sweet and malty with only a passing touch of hop bitterness in the nose.

Malt sweetness, followed by a breadiness and low hop bitterness, makes up the taste. Kind of smooth.

Mouthfeel is mostly malt sweetness and breadiness. Really not much to describe.

Drinkability is middle of the road here. It's inoffensive at best and not bad if you like amber ales.

Pours a crystal-clear amber with a thin film of off-white head that quickly dissipates. Caramel, butterscotch maltiness rules the aroma. Tastes like caramel and butterscotch as well, somewhat subdued. Medium bodied with ample carbonation. Balanced and drinkable, as is to be expected from an amber. A good midle of the road amber.
