Nice honey color I like to see that for the style. Short foam cap and minimal lacing. Nose is exactly what you would expect for the style. Light Corn and Burnt sugar mostly. Too sweet on the tongue, and the low carbonation isn't providing redemption.

Okay beer but doesn't entice me to drink more than one which is what this style is all about.

Pours a finger of head on a clear golden body.
The aroma is dry grain, on the mild side.
The taste starts with a mild dry bitterness, then a touch of sweet, finishes with an odd bitter flavor.
The texture is crisp.

a decent vienna type lager, a bit thick in body, and a bit sweet, even for the style, but a pretty good first brew for me from these guys. portland brewing has produced a caramel colored rich textured lager here, that has a nice white head and a pleasant sweet malt nose that shows some heavier crystal malt, some maris otter type, and a desserty vibe, despite the clean lager yeast finish. a slight buttery flavor on the front end, but the beer is clean and crispy, even with its sweetness i find it somewhat refreshing. for a lager, its a big enough companion to coffee rubbed grilled pork tenderloin, which i appreciate. its lager beer for when the standard yellow swill wont cut it. this has a lot more heft to it in terms of body and flavor, and the more roasted grain gives it an autumnal flair. i like it quite a bit, but vienna lagers arent really my thing. that said, this definitely has a role to play in the beer spectrum, particularly with food. thanks to drlovemd87 for sharing this unique bottle with me.

Pours a very slightly cloudy golden yellow color, some carbonation, with a quick fizzy white head, some sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty and a little bready. The taste is slightly sweet, and malty. Medium body. Overall a nice little brew, and a thirst quencher.

12oz : nonic

Pours a clear, golden orange with a foamy, slightly off white head and nice lacing.

Grassy, spicy, lightly floral hops with a crackery malt backing.

Medium body, foamy, fizzy carbonation.

For the style, a good beer. Overall, not unpleasant, but somewhat forgettable.

Pours a clear amber colored brew without much head. Far darker than most lagers.

Smell is sweet and malty with some faint fruity scents and toasted wheat scent.

Taste is weaker that expected. Taste is weak and sweet noticeable bitterness after a bit but there isn't much here to comment on.

Mouthfeel is weak.

Piss poor drinkability, I WILL NOT be ordering this again.

A very clear dilute-amber brew with a thin white head and fine lace, Zig Zag has a light malty nose but no carbonation at all. Ironically, in light of all the ales I’ve had served too cold, MacTarnahan’s could have served this lager a bit cooler. The taste emerges from a corn/sulfur matrix to an agreeable platform of clean, refreshing modesty.

This is very standard fare and makes for a satisfying thirst quencher though the lack of fizz betrayed an old tap.

Medium gold color, medium white foamy head. Aroma is malty, fruity and slightly sweet. A medium malted lager, medium hopped, slightly spicy. Full flavor, medium bodied. Nice smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and smooth. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

medium golden lager that smelled real fresh. decent hopping and smooth. Mouthfeel was also just right, not too thick or thin. Drinkability very nice as beer is refreshing. Solid choice when in the lager mood.

Presentation: On tap.

Appearance: Amber in colour with a thin ring of lace.

Smell: Toasted malts and grain.

Taste: Toasted malt and a hop bitterness which shows up a little more when the brew dries out. Leaves the mouth dry and grainy.

Notes: A pretty good American lager.
