As with most stores that offer mix packs the bottle prices are a bit expensive but you are paying the premium for getting exactly what you want. And this place delivers the goods when getting what you want. Great selection, well stocked shelves, and clearly labelled prices await those who venture in. The service was excellent and the guys that helped me gave excellent recommendations on beers I haven't tried before. I am in the Capital district twice a year and make it a point to stop in each time I'm in the area.

Warehouse styled placement of their beers throughout their dusty store. Yes, it's not one of the cleanest stores I've been in, but their selection definitely makes up for that. Breweries like Troeg's, Pizza Boy, Midnight Sun, Sloop, Cambridge, Maine Beer Company, Rising Tide, Carton, Barrier, Hardywood, Anchorage, Upland and Central Waters were some of the breweries I remember gracing the shelves. Honestly, it's a pretty good store as they do seem to rotate stock fairly quick. One shouldn't have a problem finding fresh IPA's here.

One of the better beverage places I've been to..they always seem to get good stuff and don't get the fanfare some of the other local places get..but they should..well worth stopping by if you are in the Albany/Troy area

Checked this place out based on the reviews here. Seemed better rated than Oliver's. Very disappointed. They didn't have as much and the prices were higher. Should have gone to Oliver's. Old stock (which most places have), staff was not very knowledgable about what's on the shelves. It looks good for BMC stuff if you are looking for that.

I live a little over a hour away, but everytime I am out that way, I try to make it to Hoosick Street Beverage.

They are not the cheapest store, but they are far from being the most expensive store. They are cheaper than other stores I have visited in the area. If you just want to stock up on Busch for a frat party, this might not be the best store for you.

If you are a fan of beer at all, then you have to visit this store. They easily have the best selection of any store I have ever seen, even the few in larger cities. They have beers that I have never even heard of, and many brews by some of my favorite breweries (Rogue, Stone, Southern Tier, Left Hand Brewing, the good stuff etc) that I have never seen anywhere else.

This is not a store to visit if you just plan on buying Budweiser. Honestly, I am not sure if they even stock Budweiser, or who would buy it when there's such a wide variety to choose from.

I would recommend saving up a beer fund before visiting Hoosick St Beverage, as there is simply so many different beers.

Really Great Store, visiting the Capitol Region for work from NJ and looking to stock up on some out of town brews. Great selection in this store. Just got AleSmith brews in which are not yet available in my neck of the woods. Allow you to mix and match any beers in the place and give a discount when doing so. The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful. Stocked up and then went down to The Ruck for a few beers. Will definitely stop here any time I am in the area. Growler station had 6-7 brews also for reasonable prices.

Hit this place up to stockpile for a party over the weekend. Great store. The set-up and atmosphere is pretty standard...open industrial style building with a ton of brews stocked all over the place. To the left of the entrance there is all the macro-crap. Nuff said about that. Once you get past that little detour, there is a huge availability of both chilled and room temp bottles in packs or as singles to mix and match. They also have rotating taps (I think there were 6 or 7) for growler fills. Talked with one of the owners/employees (?) while I was shopping and he was extremely knowlegable about craft beer and the products they carry, as well as some of the products that are as yet unavailable to them. After ringing up, they even help carry your goods out to your car with you if you so happen to have the quantity to require multiple hands. I will definitely return with business when I am in the area again.

stopped by this past weekend to pick up some stuff I can't get in PA, during my annual trip to Troy as an Alumni of RPI. Hoosick Beverage was our go-to beer store 10 years ago, and it's only gotten better since, as their selection of craft beer has grown.

Can't judge a book by it's cover, as the exterior is a little rough and it's tucked behind the Liquor Store. But inside you find that the entire right hand side of the store is dedicated to craft beer and imports. The shelves are organized by region, and then by country for the imports. Six packs and single bottles line the shelves. They offer mix six packs for any bottles that come in 4 or 6 packs. Couldn't ask for more.

They now have growler fills as well. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and offered a taste of the growler beers that were the style I said I liked. Prices were pretty good.

Quality and Selection are great- beers from all over the US and the world, with a good representation of NY and New England breweries. They always have a good representation of my favorites: Southern Tier, Smutty Nose, Middle Ages, Lagunitas, etc. And I almost always come out of there with something new that turns out to be a great new discovery. Some of the bottles are dusty but I've never had anything spoiled.

Prices are reasonable. Service is always prompt and friendly. When I was in there recently, I picked up a mix of 13-14 bombers. Of their own accord, they gave me a case discount and threw in a free pint glass. Nice gestures, that's the kind of stuff that'll keep me going back.

The atmosphere feels a bit like a college town dive bar. Not a fancy place at all, kind of rough. That being said, I recommend they don't change it a bit. Keep it just like it is: a relaxed and unpretentious place to casually pick from a great selection of world-class beers. One of my favorite beer stores.

Edit on 27 July 2010: their prices seem to be getting a little steep. Upped my rating from $$ to $$$. :/

This place is the epitome of service. They are so friendly and helpful it is unreal. If I could drink in the place I would be there for hours at a time. I prefer this place over the others in NY due to service and I like to support the locals. I like walking in and seeing the owner there willing to help.

As far as selection I would have to say it is in the top 3 in the area. They have all the standards and many more. They also have growlers available and kegs of fine beer. There prices are right in check with other NY establishments. They do allow you to make mixed sixers which is a plus. They are also quick to contact a rep and get you whatever is available. I have asked for things and watched them call the rep right in front of me.

I really think this place should be checked out if you have never been.

Driving to visit in-laws near Syracuse from NH, so I looked at BA for a good place to buy some beer not offered in NH.

I picked up a great selection of German beers, and USA beers from around the country. I dropped $135 on a couple cases, mainly of bigger bottled singles, but some packs of Dogfish we don't have in NH.

The service was great. They showed me the good stuff and let me browse. The offered me a nice Lindemans glass that they overheard my wife saying was nice. I nice gesture.

The best selection I have seen in my travels so far, which is still limited.

I highly recommend anyone who is driving along route 9 (in VT) or route 7 (in NY) to stop in a find something new.

I was driving with my wife through Troy, NY and noticed this place. We stopped in. The employees were extremely helpful and pleasant. They had a lot of beers that you can't find in NH or VT so this was a treat.
We ended up purchasing a four pack of Double Simcoe and a bomber of Southern Tier Hoppe. I was looking for a few beers that I have been having a really hard time locating. The guy looked for everything in several locations without luck. He seemed very knowledgeable about the beers they carried and offered several recommendations. This is definitely worth a stop.
