The Elmwood is a great place to hang out and relax. There is nothing pretentious about the place. They serve a pretty decent selection of beer(who complains about a black and tan?) as well as the normal macros. They do have Lindeman's Kriek and some Sierra and Ithaca beers as well. The food is above average especially for a Rochester and I had no problem finishing the giant plate of wings. The service was quick and courteous especially for a Saturday night. Apparently the Elmwood is the home of Miami Dolphin fans in western New York and Sunday afternoons and the fall are their bussiest times. I have not to experience that, especially because I am a Pats fan, but this is a place to check out and quite comfortable for Rochester. My only suggestion is to expand the beer selection a little bit to compete especially with the Old Toad and MacGregors.

A decent choice for beer and pub grub. Spacious bar area as well as a separate dining area. A pretty good mix of micros and imports and (unfortunately) the usual suspect macros. Comfortable atmosphere for friends or the family. Service is usually solid. This place has been around a long time.
