Welcome to Manchester!!! Arrived at Manchester airport for a 1/2 marathon over in New Market. Was picked up by my bro-in-law and quickly swept away to Milly's Tavern to begin our pre-race inebriation. The Oatmeal Stout was a very solid beer, with great nose and taste. The color was black/dark with perfect head that left a good lace. There was espresso and roast on the nose, which lead to a very good tasting stout. The mouthfeel was fine...could drink alot of it if I had to. Certainly worth a try.

12oz can poured into a can-glass

A- pours a dark brown/black color with a small creamy khaki colored head that retains for a while after the pour, eventually settling to a film floating on top and around the edges

S- roasty dark chocolate malt gives a bit of smoke and char, coffee, toasted grains

T- lots of creamy milk chocolate up front with notes of caramel, char, coffee, herbal/earthy hops. Milky sweetness finishes it out with more roast and chocolate on the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a thick and creamy mouthfeel that continues into a velvety smooth finish, super drinkable

O- this beers is technically categorized as a session beer, but it packs the flavor of a typical 6-8% oatmeal stout. The addition of the oats gives it a perfect mouthfeel and makes it remarkable quaffable. I'd but this all the time if I could

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of oats, roasted malts, lactose. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, oats, light sweetness, highly drinkable. Feels creamy in the mouth and overall is a tasty and enjoyable beer.

Sampled on tap on September 20, 2009. The pour is nearly black with a creamy, frothy tan head. The aroma is an alluring collection of oatmeal, hops, and malts. The mouthfeel is heavy and creamy. The taste had a good dose of hops along with the oatmeal and it was smooth overall. I liked this one.

A nitro pour at the brewpub today.

A: The oatmeal stout is a black beauty, dark and bold with the darkest of brown hues complimenting the depth. Resting atop the stout is an off-white head, thick and creamy thanks to the nitrogen. As the ale is consumed, the head laces in strata.

S: The nose is creamy, sweet with lactose and cream. Underneath the sweetness, roasted malts with chocolate and coffee linger. The whole package is sweet and roasted, building the anticipation.

T: The first sip is money, sweet and dark. The creamy oatmeal aspect is sweet with au lait fullness. The creamy taste leads straight to the stout's fullness. Roasted malts, burnt and charred, along with chocolate and coffee are present. The combination of all of the flavors is a sweet, dark taste that carries no boozy baggage with it. A delicious oatmeal stout.

M: The mouthfeel is creamy, oatmeal sweet. Offering lactose, burnt malts and chocolate, it was difficult to put this beer down.

D: If not for the nitro tap, I'd carry two growlers out with me. A delicious oatmeal stout, well worthy of its multiple awards.

Had the end of one keg and the start of another. Poured a nice dark black with a brown foamy head. Smelt like oatmeal, and tasted the same. Hints of some other grains in the flavor, and was very smooth tasting. Very easy to drink, with a slight hint of bitterness. No unneeded carbonation. Highly recommend this brew.

Woah, added to BA in 2002 from Manchester, NH. Never heard of this one, guessing newly canned or sent out of NH...

A- 12oz can pours into my glass with a pitch black body and a fluffy tan cap. The head dissipates just about as fast as it formed and dies out to a tiny ring at the edges. Lacing is composed of spotty rings.

S- Rich roastiness comes to mind with a very apparent chocolate presence right up front. Cocoa powder, brownies, deep roast coffee, charred grain, toasted oats and hints of sweetness. All around clean and smoothed out.

T- Decadence from the roasted malts right off the bat and it is clear that the inviting aroma was not deceiving. Milk chocolate in the forefront right along side blackened barley that provides just the right amount of char before being astringent. Toasted nuts, complex caramelized sugars, espresso bean, toasted oats and overall it is of low-medium sweetness. Hops are realized as earthy and resinous hints come out in the finish.

MF- Silky and smooth but this particular can seems to be lacking a bit of carbonation. This doesn't end up being much of a problem as the flavors are rich and hold their own but a bit more creaminess would have been great. Slick and comes off as just a bit flat.

No expectations going in and leaving knowing why this brew is award-winning. For 4.9% it not only has a flavor as rich as beers 7%+ but it still drinks very easily. Great clean roastiness with plenty of chocolate notes right up front.
