Was a tourist in my own town recently and finally checked out Square One. Man, I've been missing out.
This is a great place with a wonderful atmosphere, in the revitalized Lafayette Square neighborhood in St Louis. We ate inside because of a threat of storms, but they have an awesome patio. Next time I go, I will go on a nice day to be able to sit outside. Inside, you can view the brewing equipment, still for the spirits, and also have a glass window in the floor to see the brewing operations downstairs.
We went for lunch and got great service. Our server was very knowledgable about the menu and the beer choices, and was friendly and prompt as well. We had our 2 year old and 1 month old, along with my 14 year old son with us. The owner / manager brought my 2 year old a plate of celery / carrots with peanut butter which was cool. Server brought hot water to warm up our baby's bottle. Really nice people.
I ordered the sampler which gets you 4 6 ounce beers for $6. I tried the Double Red, Maple Stout (my favorite), IPA and Spicy Blonde. They were all very good and I'd have any of them again. My wife tried the Oh Honey! and really enjoyed that too.
Food was good - nothing spectacular. We had a nice appetizer with some pretzels and delicious cheese sauce / mustard. My wife got the reuben and I got a burger. My son got fish 'n chips. We all enjoyed our food. Nicely diverse menu with something to please everyone.
Not only is this a brewery, but it's also a distillery. They make spirits on site as well. I didn't partake of any, but heard they are very good.
All in all - you won't be disappointed if you check out Square One. Whether you are just going for beers, drinks, sample the spirits, or have lunch / dinner - you'll really enjoy it.

Located near Lafayette Square Park, this brewpub is in a nice neighborhood, with lots of small shops. There is a medium-sized bar in the front and reasonable seating in the back. We ate here on a Saturday afternoon. The beer selection was varied, with plenty of British-style brews, along with a Dopplebock. I had a sampler and a brown ale, and all of them were well made and tasty, although not particularly remarkable. The food, however, was exceptional. Interesting choices, very well prepared, and all solidly good. The service was friendly and well-timed (not to slow and not too fast). Great place.

Can't believe that I have written this review yet given how many times I have eaten dinner here. Square One has the feel of an early brew pub. There is a grand, wooden bar in the front barroom with the main dining room towards the back. There is a nice courtyard for the summer months and the upstairs is an event space, although I have never been up there.
The food is where Square One really shines. Both the quality and variety of food offered is very good, as well as reasonably priced. The beers brewed in house are also pretty good. A few of the brews stand out, their maple stout comes to mind immediately. The staff has always been good with courteous, timely service and I have never had a negative experience here.
Overall, Square One is a very good restaurant with a solid selection of quality beer brewed in house. The best way to describe it on the whole is a great place to take your family. Whenever my parents visit me in St. Louis, Square One is always in consideration for dinner.

Their beers are good without being great (with one or two exceptions), the great thing about this place is the sandwiches. Had one of the best reubens I've ever tasted here.

Large patio to enjoy a lengthy list of their brews which includes rotating seasonals. Beer has always been decent, their maple stout sticks out to me as an outstanding beer. Food has always been pretty tasty.

Not a bad brewery but not one of my top 5 in STL. Very good food with a nice dinning area. I wasn't overly impressed with the beer but the Hop Harvest IPA was good...not on the same level as a Stone or Lagunitas but decent none the less.
Square One is a solid brewery and one you'll want to try but don't pass up Six Row, Urban Chestnut or Four Hands for it.
