De Festival de las Naciones. En copa Teku. Jugando a Guacamelee 2. Una lager industrial mas del monton, poco mas que decir. Si acaso que incluso tiene algo menos de sabor del habitual

I tried this on the way back from Athens after visiting the Posiden Temple ruins at a seaside restaurant. It poured a clear golden with no head and no lace. The scent had faint grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with standard euro lager flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.

Review: 330ml nice green bottle of ALFA Hellenic Lager: 5% vol.

Another beer I got in Corfu while on my summer holidays.

The green bottle stands out for sure in the supermarket with its big fuck off red “A” logo, but its hard to figure out its name as its all Greek to me, literally (Αλφα)!

On pour I get a golden coloured beer with a desperately disappointing head. No head really to speak about. Some carbonation going on, but not enough to give the beer a decent head.

Overall it looks really bad. Not at all appetizing. A flat look.

An aroma of malts, but light on the nose. Not much to smell at all.

It is a light lager to taste, with no real flavours. Far too light, boring and bland. In fact it barely tastes like alcohol at all, a very flat taste and lacking in character.
No real taste. Malts and grains on the low level here with no hint of hops.

Smooth water with a hint of alcohol!

A good representation of the style that seems to use moderate adjuncts.
Alfa Looks average, with a nice apple-juice amber. Smells are less distinctive, mostly malt and I detect herbal hops. Tastes are largely the same with a pleasantly clean and crisp finish. I don't mind the lack of bubbles because it's got decent flavor.

Designed to go with food that uses olive oil, I had Alfa by itself. So, I will just have to test the next in my six-pack with, say, my ratatouilles slathered in olive oil.

Finally, Alfa is my first from Athenian. So, I went on their website. It and the brewery seems reasonably sophisticated except for one small but vital detail: I could not find the English button ! So it remains "Greek to me"... even though I married a Greek. We will be visiting Athens in April and I will look for Alfa then.

330 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 3/8/2019. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light corn/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A touch of fruity/skunky aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with pale malt/grains and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light corn/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light corn/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt/grains and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no fruity/yeast notes present. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very good Euro pale lager. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt/grains and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Very clean pils malt/grain showcase, with nice earthy noble hop presence/balance for the style. Very mild on adjuncts. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

330ml green bottle in Crete. A generic Euro lager like most beer in Greece. It has a richer mouthfeel than Mythos but is otherwise indistinguishable. Refreshing when drunk ice cold but off-notes and grain become apparent as it warms.

Is a Greek commercial beer, good after a long walk in the sun. Can be purchase in any small kiosk along the streets of Athens. Compared to Bud or Coors in USA.

Had this at a restaurant in Athens on holiday. Got the impression this was a Greek equivalent to Budweiser in the States. Yeah, wasn't bad at all, but lacked depth. Very drinkable after walking all day.

This was the only beer on the menu at a tourist trap restaurant in Athens. The grilled squid was good but the Alfa wasn’t.

Brightish yellow color, no hop flavor and too sweet.

Had straight from the bottle at a Greek festival. Wasn't expecting much, but this is a pretty decent AAL. Aroma we pretty much what I expected from a beer in a green bottle: sweet corn and malt, some vegetal notes. A long pull from the bottle reveals a medium feel with nice carbonation, with corn flavor a some actual peppery hops come through. Much better than expected, and better than most AALs I've come across.

Yellow to gold and crystal clear. Nearly no head and absolutely no lace.

Grainy aroma of unmalted barley.

Thin start but a good malt base -- grainy and raw. Like a macro but with a sweet flavor and full body. Decent carbonation. Low hop presence creates a shallow aftertaste.

S: sweet malts , corn

O: Nothing interesting with this beer, a boring macrolager with a boring taste. In a day at the the beach in

Pours clear, gold, with 1/4 inch head. and moderate carbonation. Smells of skunk. Taste is better with light sweet malt, honey, and grass. Overall this strikes me as a slightly below average adjunct lager. Probably will pass on this in the future.

Taste ; fresh, malty, buttery with a light almost creamy after taste.
Feel ; smooth, crisp and fresh finish with a bitter aftertaste
Overall it has a strong thick taste and is different and really nice, will be buying this again if I find it in the UK that is

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Cary, NC. This beer is a pale clear yellow with a very small white head. The aroma is skunk with some wheat, I am not looking forward to the first taste. Yep, the flavor is heavy on the skunk side with some grass that follows. Not a good beer at all, Marathon is a much better beer from Greece. This may taste better in Greece.

I've had this twice. Once in Boston - blech. Once in Santorini after a long walk down on the donkey path - so refreshing. I will choose the positive review. A typical lager from Europe. Golden color, very strawy and mild hoppy taste - nothing remarkable but refreshing. I had 2 large steins and a beer had never tasted so good as it was very hot out. Beer snobs will rip this apart, I think some beers are meant for their own turf, and this is one. Looking forward to another

Pours a straw color with decent head and lace . Grassy aroma and slightly herbal. Similar grassy flavor in the taste, toasted malts and light hops. Very crisp and light bodied; easy drinking.
I don't feel this one is as bad as others make it out to be. It's drinkable and a nice light and refreshing option. Also, if this is an american adjunct, it tastes like all grain to me. Certainly much better than other american adjuncts.

50cl green glass (ugh) bottle with branded pry-off pressure cap acquired at a local Thessaloniki corner mart and served into a plastic cup in my hostel. Reviewed live. Expectations are low.

Served after removal from the fridge. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

No bubble show forms as it's poured.

HEAD: Pours a one finger wide head of white colour. Fairly thin - disappointingly so. No lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Has a mediocre complexion and consistency. Head retention is average (~2 minutes). Not real creamy or frothy.

BODY: Clear copper of average vibrance. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.

Appears well-carbonated. Looks pretty standard for a macrolager.

AROMA: A generic aroma of basic barley, maybe some corn/maize adjunct, and malty sweetness. Evokes a low-quality brew made from cheap ingredients. Possesses no notable hop character or yeasty notes. Luckily, there aren't any detectable egregious off-notes.

I'm not looking forward to trying it.

TASTE/TEXTURE: It's like any other macrolager. Has a very generic build. Barley, malty sweetness, and helles malts. That's it. Very simple - even for the style. I also pick up on some off-putting adjunct.

Unbalanced. It's okay I guess, but there's just nothing notable here at all. Even a bit of hop character would be nice. About as boring and bland as they get.

Smooth, wet, and overcarbonated. Unrefreshing. Some brisk crispness would be nice. This texture doesn't feel particularly well suited to the taste. Meh.

OVERALL: Middling execution and a bland flavour profile make this a brew that can definitely be missed. Nothing to taste here, lads. Move along...

.5 L bottle into a pint glass. Kaliviani, Crete, Greece.

A- Very light gold. Whitish head retains poorly.

S- Straw aroma, with a slight citrus hint.

T- Sweet grainy and bitter earthy dry hop.

M- Clean and easy drinking. Light body. Nice crisp finish.

O- Maybe the best mass produced Greek beer so far.

Appearance: crystal gold body with maybe a one finger white head that disappeared before my eyes; a spot or dot of lacing here or there.

Aroma: oh hum, another lager bouquet; in the bottle a little Euro must smell or green bottle smell; in the glass – sweet grains and grassy hop

Flavors: grainy, light herbal hop and dry grass, multi grain bread, for a Lager pretty good

Mouthfeel: crisp, refreshing, light flavors, light to moderate body, moderate carbonation,

To the Point: once again a typical Lager; average at best as far as Lagers go; refreshing and pleasing on a hot summer day. Hard to justify the $12.99 a six pack. The price is in play for the okay rating.

A-Got it on tap,so it is very good looking beer in the glass. Pale color, with just enough bubbless in it. One finger white foam, staying all the way.
S-Usual,but weak smell for pale lagers.
T/M-Drinkable,low bitterness and carbonation.
O-I like it,nothing special, but i would like to drink it again.

A - pours with a small head of white foam that settles quickly and leaves decent lace.  The body is clear with a deep golden color,

S - a bready malt aroma with some light, herbal hops.

T - Grainy malt up front with some herbal hops.  A touch of corn in the middle with a dry finish and lingering, moderate bitterness.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - Not bad, it has a promising aroma,  but the flavor is a very average e.uro lager.

A: The beer is clear dark yellow in color (resembling apple juice) and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that died down but never completely faded away.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of corn and apple juice in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is sweet with hints of bitterness. There are flavors of corn and notes of apple juice.
M: It feels light-bodied and a bit watery on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The sweetness and apple juice flavors can make this a bit difficult to drink for some people. Nevertheless, it has a good amount of aroma and flavors compared to other adjunct lagers.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow (apple juice) in color with some very light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a quarter finger tall bright white head that quickly reduces to a thick ring at the edges of the glass and a medium sized patch of thick large bubbles. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: This beer has a very sweet smell - grain/corn adjunct malts along with quite a bit of apple juice.

T: Like the smell, the taste of this beer is quite sweet - there is a strong presence of grainy/corn adjunct malts and apple juice. There is a very light amount of grassy hop flavors. Very little bitterness.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: This beer is pretty easy to drink, though perhaps a little sweet to be sessionable. Enjoyable but not one I will likely seek out again.
