This is a hidden jewel on the back side of helen. It is a must for true beer fans. I mean helen has Octoberfest but the selection at most bars in Helen are just domestic swill or average German beers.
Big Daddy's Takes it to a higher level. I found Dales pale on tap, Terrapin high gravity on tap and at least 50+ beers to choose from.
The food was above average for a biker bar and the staff was freindly. The prices are fair for a tourist trap town! They also have live bands on the weekends and a huge back deck to enjoy the cool mountain air. If you been to Helen and could not find it just take a right at the Wendy's go down to the dead end take a left
and you can't miss the huge back deck.Directly across from the tubing pick up spot.

V: Nice gastropub feel. Lots of people there to grab a bite and have a few brews. We caught it on a Tuesday at lunch and they had a Taco special that we enjoyed. We liked it the most out of the eating establishments we tried in this town so we went back when some friends from North Georgia came to town for a visit. The second time was about the same as the first, we caught midday on Thursday of Masters week. They had a PBR special, $1 pints which was really nice.
Q: As stated, we visited here twice and we didnt have anything we didnt like. Each time had an appetizer, meal and a couple beers.
S: Service was good. We had the same guy both times, didnt catch his name, and he was mostly attentive. They were pretty busy both times and we never had to wait very long. A couple of times I could have used a beer a bit quicker but once again they were kind of busy.
S: Had a solid draft list with about 20 taps. Mostly local Georgia brews with a few German ones to boot. Had a couple of your macros including the PBR that I mentioned with a really nice Thursday special.
F: My family and I had a range of items from the menu and we enjoyed everything. Fish tacos, shrimp tacos, mussels, wings, philly cheesesteak. and a few items from the kids menu. The favorite was probably the tacos.

Really not what I was expecting when I stopped in here. I had always thought this was just a generic biker bar, but actually decided to check it out and was more then surprised. Great food here, albeit a bit pricey, and about 50 or so beers, with 8 being on tap. Oddly not much German, but that was ok, they had some Rye Squared on draft which I had never had on draft so it was definitely welcome. The atmosphere was fun, it was early afternoon on a Tuesday so pretty dead to be honest, but it was pretty enjoyable none the less. The food was great but not really worth the price. If you are looking for a cool place in Helen to hang out, this is probably it, however if you are looking for more of the authentic German flavor of the town, you might want to head down the street, much better places for that kind of thing.

So the most exciting food item on the menu is a burger and it costs nearly $100. No seriously, the food is really expensive. The atmosphere varies depending on whether there are the local redneck/thug crowd or a nice relaxing tourist atmosphere (i am being serious!).

The quality of beers and selection are probably the best in Helen as far as places you can drink & eat but I would opt for Hans' up the street for better food at similar prices. Bigg Daddy has the best draft selection, which is saying a lot at 8 or so taps but for a German town they rarely have German beers on tap!!

Anyway, it is a good place if there is a band and you are there with friends. Their rather large porch is a great place in the summer to hang out and drink a few brews, I just don't recommend buying any expensive food.

I was in Helen this past weekend for a wedding and was staying at a motel next door to this restaurant. I had seen their website before going and the menu seemed a bit odd for Helen but they boasted of good food and fine ales so went for dinner on Friday. Had a draft Hoppy Monster that was excellent and shared a pizza with crab and shrimp which was suprisingly good. The second night after walking through town and looking at menus at all the other restaurants ended up back at Bigg Daddy's again. Had a salad and beer/cheese soup and once again the food quality was excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
