Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
The only “effortless” thing about this beer is how it drinks. Domestic and imported malts take a backseat to the loads of American grown hops that are dumped into the kettle. Dry-hopped for a mouthwatering aroma with Mosaic and Palisade hops. Enjoy an Effortless drinking experience with our Session IPA.

Bitter-forward flavor; Simcoe-esque hop aroma.

"Dry-hopped with Mosaic and Palisade hops, this session IPA is the pick for an effortless drinking experience."

Growler filled at he source about an hour ago.

Typical almond amber, near clear, moderate lite khaki head, leaves a fine bubble film and better than respectable high sheeting.

Fresh smelling tropical hop nose

Heavy on the citrus and tropical fruity hops here, lime, mangos, and especially grapefruit all make their appearance. Full flavor and quite enjoyable...nice "session IPA" from the Captain...will we see this one in heavy rotation and in bottles shortly?

Surprised this one got such low reviews. I had two 12 oz glasses of this and found it to be a really great "session IPA" aka hoppy pale ale. The malts were balanced, but never took the lead. Hops were there in force and were quite juicy, overall a really nice beer and easy to drink.

Likely an old bottle; I have to imagine it's a fair bit better than this. Though I'm not a fan of session IPAs, this was grainy, malty, and stale. Feel was a touch thicker than with many other session IPAs, though, indicating that this beer has promise.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; bottled 07/28/2017.
A: Pours a hazy, dark amber color with a one half inch head, low retention, and low to moderate lacing.
S: Aromas of toast, lemon and pine predominate.
T: Tastes akin to nose, although grapefruit more evident than lemon. Maltiness evident up front with more bitterness on the back end. Slight bitter aftertaste.
M: Medium bodied with strong carbonation.
O: A very drinkable and enjoyable American IPA. Better balance that Hop Commander. Looks and tastes more like the New England IPA cluster within the style. Would not hesitate to have it again.

Poured a 6/1/15 bottle into a tulip on 10/6/15. I had it fresh from brewery in a growler the day before but aroma was stinger and so was the taste. This 6 pack of bottles was by far the best session IPA I've ever had!! Hoppy upfront and in the back but more citrusy and less bitter than All Day IPA! Mouth feel was light & crispy but also full of you know what I mean. Overall this IS MY NEW SESSION IPA!!! Hands down!

Pours a toasted straw color, almost golden. The white head is short and soapy, leaves a small wall of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is of honey and subtle tropical fruit hops. Some grapefruit, pineapple, and apricot. Decent hop profile just not in my wheelhouse. I guess a bit too sweet.

The taste is better, more grapefruit and not nearly as sweet. The malt body is dry, which IMO should be for a session IPA. A touch of the grapefruit rind for bitterness. Perhaps some grass and pepper.

The feel is moderate with prickly carbonation; burns slightly. Dry overall on the palate but not overly so. Surprisingly not that bitter considering how dry it is. Drinks very well and again surprisingly clean.

A good session IPA. Not extremely flavorful but very drinkable.

11/1....pours a very light copper, with a white foam cap. Very faint grassy smell. Smooth taste, light hop. Light malt blends excellently with a subtle bitter. No effort to drink, but tasty.
