If it is an authentic Bohemian Pils you seek, this is not your huckleberry. If a delicious, crisp, pils-y beer with juicy American hop aromatics and a dry floral pils bite is acceptable, then this is quite good. Sad I first tried this after the reasonable dawn of oktoberfest season. Though, with the long summers of NC, i might could enjoy a sixer or two of this before my existence is no longer blanketed in perpetual sweat.

Look: It pours light golden with a white pillow head. Head retention is good. It also has good clarity.

Smell: The aromas are strong citrus and grainy sweet malt. There are also some spicy and piney aromas as well.

Taste: It is hop forward with spicy and piney flavors leading the way. There are also some grainy sweet flavors and a bit of citrus as well. Bitterness level is moderately high. There are low levels of wheat as well as hints of honey in the background.

Feel: It has a moderately light body with a moderately bitter finish.

Overall, it is well hopped and those flavors are the ones that shine. The taste is more like an American Pale Ale or American IPA.

I know this style is not very exciting to many people and I get it. I am a fan of this brerwery and they have been kicking it up a notch with many of their recent oferings. I had this at a restaurant on tap. It was super refreshing . A super nice bright golden yellow color. A very crisp taste with some bits of citrusy, sweetness and bready . The mouthfeel is light, crisp, and fizzy. A nice replacement for some of the domestics that are nothing but water.

Pours a cloudy gold. Smell is a bit hoppy and taste follows. Pretty smooth. Not what I was expecting but pretty decent.

Damn good beer. Nothing to write home about, but very good flavor. Like an ipa, but it’s not. Very flavorful, not watery at all. Had low expectations, as this far exceeded them.

Big head that clears quickly. Clean & crisp. Strong hop flavors with an after taste that aaalmost gets close to being too astringent, but pulls back at the last moment.
Overall a very good example of an American pilsner.

12 oz can. Clear. Smells of aggressive hops. Tropical fruit, some garlic. Light golden malt. Tastes of pilsner malt, kinda sweet. Tropical fruit hops with an aggressive grapefruit lingering bitterness. Aggressive hops and a mediocre malt profile. But it's ok.

Canned 1/8/19

Slightly hazy with substantial, but quickly-dissipating white head.

Smell is bready, fruity (pear + apple juice) , and goldenrod flowers. (sweet floral hop aroma) Smells like a helles.

Taste is similar to aroma, but less sweet, + grapefruit pith, dried lemon rind, & light bitterness.

Feel is light ,with fine, medium carbonation, that provides soft tingle.

Overall, I like it but seems to be straddling too many lines, and doesn't seem to go anywhere. A good substitute, if a session IPA can't be had, but not what I would ordinarily want in a pils.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. "6th Borough Pilsner"
12 fl. oz. can; freshness dating on the bottom of the can is illegible
$1.83 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: "Pilsner dry hopped with Mosaic and Crystal hops" - what are they, out of their minds! It's poured a hazy golden body beneath an average sized head of white foam. I'm not so fond of haze in a Pilsner-style beer but oh well, it still looks good. The aroma is quite fruity and floral, but also a touch yeasty, over a lightly sweetish and grainy malt base. I clearly get the floral notes of the Crystal (one of my favorite hops), but the Mosiac (one of my other favorite hops) is limited to some berry-like and tropical fruitiness. It's certainly not what I'd expect of a Pilsner but I have had kellerpils in both Austria and southern Germany that have had a similar brightly floral aroma. The flavor follows, and this time I can say that I definitely don't like the yeast. I find it distracting. The Mosaic hops come through much more clearly though, and there's much more berry but also some mango/peach, and a bit of grassy, earth, and pine. It's also delicately citrusy, probably coming from both hops, and a touch spicy in the finish. It's got a median bitterness in the 30 to 40 IBU range, and it's nicely balanced and finishes dry. In the mouth it's medium bodied leaning towards medium-light, and crisp. I can't help but feel that this would be a much better beer with less yeast to it, and I wonder if perhaps this particular sample ended up with more than the rest of the packaging run did. AHH, but it just occurred to me, they probably didn't want to filter it because it's dry-hopped BUT I'm sure it could have dropped clearer given more time; or I just got a can from the end of the run. It's a little disappointing because I really thought that with what are basically my two favorite hops in play I'd love it, but that yeasty note tears it down. I'll look for another can and try it again. Looking back the head has held remarkably well and the lacing is quite good. Had it been clearer, or labeled as a kellerpils, I'd have scored it a 4.5 for appearance. Oh well.

"The sixth borough may just be a state of mind, but we live here and this beer was brewed here. Bright, crisp and hoppy, this beer will bring you back to the "burbs" with each sip"

Enjoyed at the brewery and now reviewed from a 1/2 growler. Pour lightly hazed near golden amber. minor off white head, leaves a thin tiny bubble film and minor spots of lacing.

Bright nose of lemon/lime hops.

Crisp and tasty with stinging hoppy lime notes...densly flavorful...highly enjoyable pilsner....go get some of the CL pilot batch while it is around

Hazy, greenish gold color. Excellent head which leaves extensive blanketing lace on the glass.

Sweet pale malt with a nice floral hop nose. Attractive and accurate for the style.

Very bitter and harshly so. This doesn't resemble the traditional pilsner. It's more like an IPL. Not a bad beer but, imho, it's a misnomer to call it a pils. Good body with a lower than expected carbonation. The bitterness in the swallow and aftertaste is like long lasting black pepper.
