Light golden in color, but packed with flavor. This Belgo-American Ale is bursting with the spicy aromas and flavors created by the unique imported yeast strain. Fermented at higher temperatures, this beer throws off notes of clove, banana and citrus fruit. Light in color but big on flavor.

Bought from Half Time. My second from Captain Lawrence. My big question from the first (a tripel) was if the Captain had figured out how to keep a Belgian yeast. Based on Liquid Gold, the answer is: "not yet."
Liquid Gold Looks only slightly better than the average BPA. Nor does its Smells say "drink me" (could use more fruitiness, another sign of a weak yeast.) In Taste, it follows with not much of the style's richness... and tries to makeup that flaw with some bitter hops. In my mouth, Liquid Gold is medium, bubbly enough and would cleanse away fatty fries.
Although they don't seem to distribute in Chicagoland, I wish Captain Lawrence well. But work on the yeast, please.

Day 6 of the 2019 calendar.
It climbed the ladder of rating characteristics for me, then topped out at a solid 4.25 score.
Great fluffy head and carbonation, yeast and banana esters on the nose, then the blast of sweetness with cloves and yeast on the flavor. The alcohol level was just right, and I could have drank all night.

A - nice cloudy bright golden orange color with a crisp white head. Seems to hold the head well
S - I get a lot of fruit in my nose ...like !
T - Tropical fruit ? the sweetness of a Belgium style ? Either way YUM !
M - Moderate-low carbonation, as a Belgium should be , on point
D - Extremely drinkable makes it awesome BUT ...dangerous

Pours cloudy gold with a nice head and some lacing. Has an interesting fruity crisp taste and a smooth finish. I like this one!

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; produced on 09/26/2017 (refrigerated since) purchase.
A: Pours a slight hazy, golden color with a one inch, foamy, white head, good retention and solid, sticky lacing.
S: Aromas of cracked grain, pepper and spice (maybe cloves), and honeysuckle.
T: Tastes a lot like a Wit, with banana, cloves, grasses, and grain predominating. Bitterness a bit peppery and strong for this style. Strong bitter aftertaste
M: Medium bodied with persistent carbonation. Oily on the palate.
O: Different. Hard to determine whether this is flavor forward or a Belgian ale that just got off track. Disparate flavor characteristics without good synergy and the pepperiness both detract. Not terrible, but probably wouldn't try it again.

Delicious golden with nice white head. Nice yeasty smell and flavorfully rich sourdough taste. Medium bodied balanced brew. Finished with afresh baggete aftertaste. Nice American take on a Belgian ale.
