Bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. Brown colour, big off-white head. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, brown sugar and spices, hints of camphorwood. The flavour has more fruity acidity than I expect from a dubbel, some spicy and woody notes too.

Purchased in 2017. No easy to find bottled on date. Poured into a Chimay goblet.

A: Vinous appearing light burgundy with a thin rim of beige head with no lacing.

S: Raisin and red grape with plum and date aromas. Plenty of yeast esters with floral and dark fruit aromas.

T: Malty as you can get with prune, raisin, light chocolate, and dark toffee. Low-medium bitterness and cherry-berry alcohol character.

M: Viscous and full-bodied with low carbonation.

O: Hefty and a 2-3 person brew for sure.

Reviewed from tasting notes. The nose is not huge – plum and slight funk with traces of light chocolate. It pours brilliant garnet to chestnut with an enormous 3” light tan tinted head that leaves classic Belgian window lace. The flavor has a chocolate undertone but there is some definite prune and some othe fresh and dried fruits. Medium body and slightly above medium carbonation.

Bottle obtained from the brewery about a year and a half ago.

Dark brown pour, with a large off-white head that retained nicely and coated the glass with lace. Mild aroma of bready yeast and caramel malts. Taste was very bland up front, cardboardy malts, yeast, light herbal hop notes, no real sweetness or estery qualities that I like in the style; it was really just pretty lacking in taste, though benign and mostly non-offensive. Could've just been that the bottle was past its prime, but I don't see why a beer like this couldn't hold up a year or two in the cellar. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Pretty average overall, not very tasty, but not undrinkable.
