On tap at Gingerman - SONO.
Poured into pint glass. Not quite sure what is going on with this beer. Smells very malty, not belgian-ey at all.

Taste isn't all that good. Overly malty, with very little hop flavor at all. Not impressed and somewhat disappointed to pay $6 for it.
Such a great establishment needs a better brew...

On tap at the Gman in the da heart of NYC baby, pours glowing orangy amber, with a fine bubble head, light and creamy, leaving a fine web of sheeting and then wispy lace. Mild bready and spiced up nose. Belgian yeasties in evidence, toasty malts and a definite ginger presence noted . Quality sessioner/quaffer. Nice holiday type spicing, then strong ginger notes in the finish. Interesting, tasty and a quite pleasurable offering from the good captain. Highly recommended. Get to the Gingerman and give this one a try.

On tap at The Ginger Man, their house ale. Dark yellow with white head and lace. Dry beverage, some ginger in front. Above average mouthfeel. As good as the style normally is, though I do not usually go in for ginger.Appropriately carbonated, which is what they do at this bar.

Had a pint for $6.50 at the Ginger Man in Manhattan. Now I haven't had many ginger beers, but this is easily the best. You can tell the root is in the beer, but it blends wonderfully with light caramel malt and a spicy lemon yeast character. This was a tasty relatively-sessionable Belgian ale. I'd order it again.

A crisp dry refresher. Clear and pale copper in hue with a good head and such. The nose is fruity with cherries and sour apple. A sweet maltiness and a sizable ginger note. Taste is more ginger and a tart sourness with a delectable malt backbone and a faint wheat twang. Belgian yeast adds a nuttiness and depth. An extra dry finish shows some hop florals and a rich dark sweet roll with graham and ginger. This one leaves you smackin' your tongue on your palate.

A crisp dry feel with medium light weight and a clean carbonation.

Super drinkability as I had to force myself to leave some for my wife. This is a great summer brew.

On tap @ the Ginger Man obviously...12/20/08

Pours, a medium amber color, with a lot of carbonation. The smell is of fresh ginger root, very impressive. Taste is of a pale ale, with a nice ginger finish. Drinks pretty easy. Overall an interesting brew, i was always a little skeptical about ginger beer, but was very impressed by this one

Another small growler sent down from NY for me to sample. Opened this one up after dinner to sit and chill with in front of the tv. Served cold and poured into a pint glass, this one was consumed on 04/02/2010,

The pour was ok, nothing spectacular by any means, but again ok. Amber in color and very clear with some decent carbonation that led to a small head, maybe an inch that faded quickly leaving only token side glass lacing and bare top. Aroma is very malty, lots of bready and grain notes bouncing around in here. Ginger is either very well blended in the profile, or not much is actually put in as I am picking up next to nothing. Heavier feel then I have had in other ginger ales, but again it seemed to be lacing much complexity or depth in the flavor. Just dry malts, a muted, lightly bitter hop note that came across somewhat fruity towards the end, but mostly stayed in the herbal realm. Fleating taste on the finish.

Overall a give it an ehh. It was a decent try at the style, but it was no where near complex enough to hold my intrest. A sessionable beer for sure, just not terribly intresting.

Had a draft of this at george keeleys on the upper west side. I wanted to like this beer better but the Ginger flavor was just a little too strong for me. Color and aroma are good but, again the ginger flavor is just a little too much. I would not recommend this beer.

Had it on tap at the Ginger Man in NYC a while back and thought it had OK taste with the ginger not adding a nice finish to it; I appreciate using ginger since it's in the name of the joint, but this is not a beer I'd have again.

First had: on tap at Captain Lawrence, Elmsford, NY

Hazy golden honey color with a thin white head that retained as a ringlet and left spotty lacing on the glass. Bready aroma, ginger and brown sugar. Most ginger-based beers I've had, well, are basically just that: beers featuring ginger spice. This one tasted closer to a gingersnap cookie, which was a pleasant surprise. Ginger and brown sugar, caramel malts, Honey-Nut Cheerios sensation in there somewhere, with a hint of dry apricot and mild drying hops on the finish. Medium body, appropriate carbonation, easily drinkable. I had no problem going back for more.

On tap at Gingerman in NYC. Amber clear color with white head. Smell and taste were spicy and malty, with some sweetness. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with high carbonation. Not sure what the ABV is, but it didn't seem too high. Pretty drinkable, though I wouldn't go out of my way to drink this.
