Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Originally, Saisons were brewed in Belgium for the farm workers to enjoy after a long day in the field; and while we’re not working in the fields all day we are thirsty! The recipe for this beer was formulated with input from the entire CLBC brew crew, fermented with a traditional Belgian yeast strain, and dry hopped with US grown hops. Straight from the Captain’s cellar to yours, we hope you enjoy!

From tasting notes. Starts with a snort of sour and waves of over ripe fruit. It pours hazy gold with a very fluffy 3” rocky white lacy head that slowly dissipates. Has a crisp, tart, dry lemony palate backed by over ripe fruit and a little barnyard funk and light malts in the background. Luscious creamy mouthfeel from foamy carbonation. Light and refreshing.

A - Pours a hazy golden-orange with a big finger of frothy white head. The head fades down very slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of sweet grainy and pilsner malts, lemon zest, Belgian yeast, coriander and other spices, and some farmhouse smells.

T - Starts off with a mix of sweet grainy and lightly bready malts with some lemon zest, citrus hops, and a bit of bitterness. Through the middle, the Belgian yeast comes through with some coriander, other spices, and farmhouse flavors. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts, lemon zest, citrus hops, Belgian yeast, and some coriander and other spices.

M - Medium bodied with heavy carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and estery finish.

D - Very drinkable. Great overall balance with good yeast character coming through.
