This golden ale was aged in oak barrels with Brettanomyces and a few choice flowers to give it a complex and floral aroma. Tart, tangy and full of flavor. Straight from the Captain’s cellar to yours. We hope you enjoy.

$15 for the 12 ounce bottle(!), purchased at the mother ship in Elmsford, NY a few weeks ago. Bottled in 5/12 written on the label.

Pours near clear, darker rose tinged copper. Light tan head, initially 1-2 inches then rapidly going to a thicker fine bubble film and leaving moderate blobs of slippery lacing.

Sweet fruity nose at first with grape juice, then notes of a damp barnyard emerge and add to the mix.

More fruity then sour initially. As it warms more earthy, musty and barn yardy notes come through.

Moderate sour and tart notes, with slight Brett characteristics of barn yard and sweat socks. Also more fruity grape juice type notes included.

I think this one needs more time in the botle to hopefully let the sour develop some more bite. Unlikely I will ever know if this happens as at this price, I'm very likely one and done here.

Be sure to let this one warm up!

Poured from 12 oz a cork and cage bottle as pictured (2016 batch). Its pink-orange color lends it a wine-like appearance. The 'rose' part of this beer is very evident in smell and taste, while the 'hops' part is subdued. Rose and hibiscus are notable in both smell and taste. The dominating characteristic of the taste is a medium tartness that just ok. The floral aspects of this brew are what make it interesting. All in all, worth a try.

Bottle from Dr Rob last night, thanks for the cellar pulls!
Deep reddish gold in color with a small short lived bubbly white head. Light honey maltiness somewhat vinous with a faint floral hoppy presence to it. Decent.

Poured from 500 ml bottle into wine glass.
Pours a very beautiful orangish/red beer. Some yellow highlights. Looks almost like a wine or champagne.
The flowers are wildly dominant in the smell. Oak and acidic in the background.
The taste is slight and a little underwhelming. The flowers are still the main show with some of the slight oak making for a dry finish. Tart and acidic but very balanced.
Overall, I liked the flowers they got to come through in this and the dry finish works perfectly with it.

Beautiful rose tinted deep ornge in color with minimal head but outstanding layered lacing as the drinking process continues. Aroma is floral and light. Taste is nice and tangy with touches of oak and souriness. Unfortunately the flavors are muted and the whole taste seems watered down and weak. Watery finish and hardly and fruit or tartness at the end.

i have been burned enough by flower beers that i always approach them with a little skepticism. some of them taste like bath and body works, others forced and unnatural, others over the top bitter, and some too subtly done to be there at all, its rare to find a beer with flowers thats this expressive and balanced and delicious! i get a huge waft of fresh flowers on the nose, and it is very rose-esque, although im not sure which ones they actually use. i can tell you though what they almost assuredly dont use, which is lavender, an often way too intense flavor in beers like this, so in the absence of that one, we have a more subtle, earthy, and vegetal element, summery and fresh too. lots of funk in the flavor, some lacto type pucker, a musty bretty funk thats quite mature and rustic to me, and some tannic oak. its complex but not intense, which allows the flowers to be appropriately featured. rose is tastes like to me, but there could be others, low floral bitterness at the end here, and drier. i am missing some hops here, i thought with the name this might also be aggressively dry hopped or something, but that doesnt appear to be the case. fresh cut flowers to finish, it smells like a church on a wedding day, polleny and bright and natural, almost life giving or something, the flower element is very impressive to me. stoked to have had these guys send some kegs out this fall to colorado, i have liked everything i have had from them lately! this one is super unique, great use of the flowers!

Poured from a 12 oz cork'n'cage bottle into a tulip

L: Nearly clear golden orange pour. 1.5 fingers of foamy white head. Falls fast with a nice ring of lacing.

S: Tart and funky.. lemon, floral, and oak.

T/F: Light and refreshing. Tart without being overly sour... not a strong pucker so very drinkable. Great mix of flavors.. lemon/citrus for sure.. some mustyness and oak from the barrel. Floral notes but not terribly strong. Sweet/tart under-ripened fruit. Almost reminiscent of white wine. Finish is sweet/tart and slightly floral.

O: A really fantastic Wild Ale. Super drinkable and flavorful. Very much enjoyed this one.
