unique brew! flanders red appearance w/ half a finger of head that doesn't last too long. didn't get too much of the floral presence on the scent but it had a strong tart/acidic tone which had my mouth watering. the flavor was completely floral, indicative of the hibiscus & rose hips. was expecting much more tartness from the scent, but was in the mild side. Overall, glad to have tried. will put one down for a while in hopes the brett does something to it. Cheers!

I've been sitting on this one for 3 years. Poured into a tulip a hazy blood orange ruby-ish with a quickly dissipating head of champagne like bubbles that rapidly vanish. Aroma is floral with maybe a hint of hibiscus. Taste is similar and very light...I don't get any hops... (very much complimented the stuffed clams i had fro lunch) Light, smooth, and thin with a dry finish. Very subtle and well-balanced...thoroughly enjoyed.

Reviewed from tasting notes. A real strong rose hip aroma, almost tomato, a touch sour and wet horse blanket but the rose hips dominate. Pours rose with a slight haze under a slight whisp of a white foam cap. A whole array of flavors attack the palate starting fruity herby, spicy and sour but the sour is not too in your face. The hops come in after the middle and provide a nice balance. The finish dries out. Medium body, medium high carbonation.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber color with just a touch of pink grapefruit; an inch of foam caps the beer and leaves a few spots of lace (4)

Smell: The earthy/leathery Brett aromatics mingle with fruit (grapefruit and berry, presume it is elderberry though I can't say for certain), flowers (rose hips more than hibiscus)) and, to a lesser extent, oak and vanilla (4.75)

Taste: Fruit forward, with the grapefruit and berry tones prominent; growing tartness through the middle, as the floral elements rise with the rose hips, in particular, making a statement; after the swallow, the tartness remains as do the fruit and flowers but the malt becomes more apparent, bringing a bit of toffee to join with the vanilla; oaky aftertaste (4.5)

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; moderately puckering (4)

Overall: A very interesting beer that has matured nicely developing a nice tartness; not the most sour beer out there but I really like the complexity (4.25)

Thanks, acurtis, for the opportunity
