Nearly 6 year old beer and tasted just as fine today as it did 6 years ago. Didn't look as good, fleeting head, but golden and clear body. Aroma of hay, straw, grass, earth, goat, pineapple, and lemon. Great. Taste of goat barn yard funk, tart green apple and lemon, dank wet leaves, earth, cracker malt. Mouthfeel is not thin, it's rather round with subdued carbonation. It feels prickly...but I know that's just the sour power. Seriously high class beer.

A: This poured a cloudy light gold with rocky white head.
S: It smelled like tart apple cider vinegar and unripe apricots, with some coriander and funky oak and horse blanket.
T: It tasted like dry apricot and coriander, with some tart apple cider vinegar and oak and a little horse blanket. It had a clean and mildly tart aftertaste.
M: It was thin with lots of carbonation. Nice bubbly body.
D: This was a nice delicate brew with well balanced and enjoyable scent and taste. The body was great for the style, and the finish was really smooth, so it was easy to drink. Could age a long time, but doesn't need it. Not top tier, but still a very high quality drink that's crisp and refreshing on a hot day.

2015 bottling. A lovely hazy gold with a nice tight head that fades rather quickly. Still there's a bit of lace and it looks quit nice for the style. Carbonation is quite champaign like.

Nose is tart vinous and funky. Sour apples and pears. Some malt and a bit of horse blanket. A nice amount of oak. A white grape re-presents the grain bill with a fruity flourish.

Taste is dry and tart. Like a grainy dry champaign. Sour juicy white grapes with a touch of green apple. A light oak presence from the nose. Some malt sweetness. Nicely funky. A bit of grassiness comes through as the mild hops dry out out the finish.

Feel is lively and brimming with a gentle effervescence that continues the champaign like character. light body gives a crisp refreshing swallow.

This is a great beer for summer sipping. Its refreshing crispness and dry thirst quenching qualities make for enjoyment bottle after bottle. wish I had bough more.

Poured from 375 ml bottle dated 2015.

A: Clear pale yellow and 1-2 finger frothy white head with decent retention and moderate lacing.

S: Lemon zest and a touch of lime mixed with an earthy, peppery note. Subtle oak at the end.

T: Lemon and lime with a little sweetness. A little tart but highly drinkable. Some earthy funk but not as much as I was expecting.

M: Medium body with average carbonation. Soft mouthfeel and leaves a lightly tart finish.

O: Tasty, highly drinkable wild ale. I wish the barrel was more prominent but still and outstanding beer.

Very nice light sour. Good color and decent head. Good amounts of yeast, fruity sourness and a nice barnyard funk. Fizzy mouthfeel. Crisp citrus finish

The beer pours a lightly hazy gold color, pure white head that looks like is going to live a while. A visual beauty this is.

The aroma is delectable - earthy, peppery, just a hint of farm fresh funkiness, a little bit of citrus leaning toward lime, floral top notes and the faintest whiff of wood, a little sweetness.

It drinks more gently than I would expect from the smell. It is "soft" on the palate with a sweet malt cushion underneath everything. Tartness is present, but it is a well-rounded fruity tartness that comes in after an initial kiss from a 7-Up-like lemon-lime and a bit of a peppery bite. Mid -palate there is a decidedly fruity note, but before it can dominate the flavor, some mild earthy funk comes to play. There is a mild bitterness to clean it all up and round this beer out nicely. Just a gentle oakiness to remind you of the barrel, maybe a tiny hint of vanilla.

So...a bunch of assertive flavors all playing nice in the sandbox. It isn't quite crisp...there is an aftertaste that just lingers without accumulating much, so it still manages to feel refreshing. Just enough of a persistent reminder to look forward to the next sip, Mildly carbonated despite the look.

Everything you would expect to find in a wild ale is in here, but it takes a little effort to unlayer the onion, so to speak. Really finding these subtly complex brews are a lot of fun to drink, and I could drink a lot of this one. This is a worthy brew.

On tap:
Looks a little muddy, a dirty brown gold. A decent little rim for a sour, though.

Nose is generally sour melon, nice and light sour combined with a tart fruit background.

The taste follows the nose, with a sour watermelon (specifically near the rind) flavor. In fact, a little lime spritzer added to the bitter part of a watermelon might be a good description for what im getting. Easily quaffable with a grassy to earthy base upon which the tart (more than sour) notes are laid. Maybe a slight lean to an unsweetened grapefruit soda (or somewhat flat seltzer)

A nice beer that is tart but not puckering, a little woody but integrated well, a little earthy but countered by the former aspects. Enjoyable beer, all in all.
