Bottle poured into a Stone taster, a dark ruddy brown pour, a small off-white head sank to a ringlet, and left a few streaks of lacing behind. In the nose, crushed cherries, oak, red wine, hints of funk and mild acetic acid. On the palate, tartness was pretty soft and mild, bready malts, cherry pie sweetness, oak, and a mild but ever-present funkiness, and some vinegar to get the salival glands flowing. Medium body, a bit chewy, quite a good drinker overall.

Thickest wax job I've ever come across. A slow gusher too. 750ml bottle poured into a Cantillon tulip. Shared with schen9303.
Pours a 2 finger frothy light pinkish brown head with moderate retention. Beer is slightly cloudy deep red. Lacing is stringy and thick with good stick. Oily, thick legs. Quite the looker.
Nose is tart and ascetic. Vinegar, cherry and a slight note of plastic. Other crushed red fruit flavors swim in and out. Mellow and funky oak in the back. Aromatic and tart but I could do without the vinegar notes.
Opens tart and slightly sweet cherry. Vinegar and red fruit tartness at the middle. Puckering in the mouth. Oak and more crushed red fruit sour notes at the end. Vinous. Fruity finish with a tart cherry aftertaste. Solid.
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Oily and slick in the mouth and puckering going down. Messy finish with a lingering, sticky aftertaste. I usually prefer a lighter body on wild ales but this fits the style and flavor profile nicely.
Much, much better than Barrel Select Cherry (which is a DIFFERENT beer). I'm not a big fan of darker, vinegary sours for the most part but this is pretty enjoyable. Flavor is rich and full and the body is a great complement. One of the better beers in the Barrel Select series.

Sour Brown Ale aged in French Barrels with NY grown sour cherries from Singer Farms in upstate NY. Only 200 bottles made.
Bottles are 750ml, dipped in red wax, and labeled as having been bottled 9/12.
Released November 2012, 200 bottles.
a - Pours a deep reddish brown color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of cherries, tart dark fruits, sour apples, oak, light vinegar, vanilla, some spice, some funk. Very nice nose; lots of sour cherries to it which I love.
t - Tastes of vinegar, sour cherries, funk, tart dark fruits, hay, earthy notes. Much tarter than the nose and more vinegar vs. fruits, and a little more funk. Very nice but I preferred the nose to the taste.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation, with some acedic bite to it.
o - Overall a really nice sour from CL; didn't like it as much as Barrel Select Gold, but a good sour cherry wild none the less. Awesome nose, would like to have it again.
