On-tap at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring.

A- Pale orange with just a tiny ring of white bubbles on the edge of the snifter. Very clear and pretty color and as much head as could be expected for a sour.

S- Upfront there's a big overripe fruit character, a bit cherry pie and a bit old banana. Also finding their way into the mix are light graininess, vanilla, sour apple and a touch of earthy funk that may be from the yeast or from hops.

T- Fruity with a bit of spiciness. Just a touch of light acidity, pleasant and finishes with a lingering sweet and sour sensation. Flavors pretty similar to nose throughout without anything very strong or complex but enjoyable nonetheless.

M- Light and dry, very drinkable with light carbonation that allows it to fill the mouth despite the lack of body.

O- A nice, simple sour. Nothing amazing here just a mildly tart refreshing beer.

Had on tap at Max's during BBW 2013 (from notes, 10/27/13).

A: Copper with a nice head.

S: Funk. Tart. Sour.

T: Oak mellows the tart/sour flavors here. Quite a bit earthy.

M: Smooth with a bit of a bite.

O: A nice balanced sour here that plays well off of the oak.

Sipped this immediately after a refreshing Westbrook Gose and was not too impressed. Sort of like a peach wine. Not particularly sour, not particularly complex. Just not up my alley.

Laughing Dog's 8th Anniversary Beer, aged for 1 Month in New Oak.

Had this on draft at Always Ron's.

Pours a light straw with a vigerous head that subsides quickly.

Smells of tartness, a bit of funk, and some cheesy hops.

Taste starts tart and refreshing, but the middle gets a little funky. It tastes as though aged hops were used, but were not aged properly. A funky cheese mildew like flavor is present there.

Back end has the funky cheese flavor lingering, with a touch of oak and hints of granny smith apples.

Overall, not bad for a brewery's first attempt at a sour.

On tap at PreFunk. Probably should rate this higher, ad I find it very appealing, die to its mildness. Not a big over the top tart sour, malt actually makes a presence here, downplaying the yeast. Very refreshing.
