Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A profound love of hops and big brews led to our IPA. A little over the top it is a hophead’s dream come true. An Intense hop aroma and Malty body are followed by a smooth clean finish.

Generous amounts of Pacific Northwest malted barley along with some of the best hops from the fields of Yakima have come together to create an IPA that is very hoppy but very balanced with complex malt flavors.

Served Cool not ice cold so as not to subdue the hop aroma this is the beer that says don't mess with me I’m a BAD DOG.

This was from the can. Damn good beer for the price. Recommend drinking after some more expensive bottled double ipas.

Can poured into a Lagunitas mason jar style glass. A dark yellow tree sap amber with a half-finger of frothy, fluffy off-white head. Aroma is tropical fruit (light mango, passion fruit, kiwi perhaps), citrus (grapefruit, orange), canned peaches, pine needles, floral elements, something else more purely herbal. Everything in its right place and strikes a fair number of different chords. Getting a prominent honey sweetness as well. Palate features these elements as well, weighted more towards the herbal, floral, and pine aspects, with the sweet fruit and citrus present and accounted for (including a notable amount of berry) but beneath the bitterness. Almost minty. Dry and astringent. Not sure if the Cluster is the culprit but something is different. Some woody yeast character. Moderate firm body/mouthfeel, with a bitter grainy finish. Can taste the 6.2%, a little bit. The contrast between the honeyed fruit aroma and stark herbal palate is what stands out here. Unique and refreshing if a tad lacking in depth.

Amber color with a thick one finger head with medium retention.
Light aroma with a mild citrus hop and dank herbal notes.
Flavor is somewhat different, quite floral and dank. Hints of pine, orange marmalade, some green banana and grass. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light body with mild carbonation. Alcohol of 6.2% abv is simply not there.
Although it has a unique flavor, I was expecting more, given its brand, IBUs (66.5) and price tag. It was a bit bland and not with the hop profile I prefer the most.

Robust white foam on the golden amber brew in the De Proef tulip. Hugely aromatic with fruity and flowery hops. The mouthfeel is sprightly.

This is a lusty big IPA that is not overly bitter. The label lists the hops as Cluster, Cascade, Citra, and Simcoe, and the ABV is 6.2%. The fruity hop flavors are delightful. It could be a double IPA with all the aromatics, but it is just generously flavored without the excesses. Well balanced with just enough sweet malty.

The canned version seems to date from the end of 2013. Overall, this seems like an improvement, and it's a highly drinkable IPA. From the 12 oz can purchased at Special Brews in Lynnwood, Washington.
