Back on The CANQuest (tm) for the foreseeable future! I have a plethora of CANs to run through & the CANbination of laundry + a Pirates game on TeeVee is a nice acCANpaniment.

From the CAN: Buffalo Gold is a light-bodied, easy-drinking yet very flavorful Golden Ale from [CAN]orado's First Craft Brewery."

I Crack!ed that Buffalo real good, but when I attempted an inverted Glug, the head came roaring up, trying to gore me with its horns! I ended up with two fingers of fluffy, foamy, tawny head that had no ChANce in the face of tonight's oppressive heat & humidity. Color was more of a solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity, as opposed to Gold. Sorry. Nose was light & faint, kind of sweetish, but lightly discernible. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium. The taste was lightly malty sweet, but mostly unobtrusive. Finish was semi-sweet, but I had to work to get much from it. It is a very light, ephemeral beer. You could probably fill your cooler with it without blinking an eye, but why bother? You could probably find something equally bland at a better price point.

Poured a 12 oz bottle into a Imperial Pint. Poured a clear orangy amber. Aroma is yeast and citrus. Taste is pretty much the same. Everything is very balanced in this beer. Nothing is over the top but it all melds into a pretty drinkable beer. Mouthfeel is pretty crisp and clean. Good session beer.

Poured a golden straw color. Insignificant head that vanished to a ring around the edge. Aroma reserved, barest hint of fruity hops. On first sip the beer seemed almost flavorless. Subsequent drinks developed a lager-like flavor profile. A little caramel-tinged malt, with sweet/tangy interplay, leading to a modest hops bittering at the finish.

Shared at a home brew club meeting.

A - Pours copper-gold with a 2 fingered white head. Dissipates slow and leaves little to no lacing.

S - Sweet notes of honey and caramel.

T - A very sweet flavor of honey and caramel, with some bittering hops.

M - Full-bodied, well-balanced, malt dominated, and finished dry. Carbonation was medium.

D - Although it does not have the traditional bitterness of a blonde ale, it is still a refreshing beer and a good quaff.

A: Brilliant gold color with an oh so subtle haze. Frothy white head has average retention and leaves spots of lace.

S: Pleasant dry maltiness has a bit of straw to it. There's a mild citrus aroma that lets you know this beer has some hops in it.

T: Very nicely balanced. Not the most interesting brew, but there are some nice flavors to be had. Malt comes across with an almost grassy sweetness. Hops add a citrus and fruity bitterness that doesn't overwhelm the palate. Finishes rather clean, with a bit of residual bitterness.

M: Medium-light body is a touch on the fizzy side.

D: I have a friend who's such a huge University of CO football fan that he insisted on having this beer at his wedding (the beer is called Buff Gold for a reason). It's a nice safe micro that most macro drinkers seem to be able to get behind. Not my first choice in beers, but not something I would ever turn down.

I got this one from Hyland24. Labled Buffalo Gold "Golden Ale".

Poured g golden color with a decent head of white foam and good carbonation. The beer had a good bit of maltiness in the smell. To me it tasted like a higher quality Budweiser.Decent summer beer, but not real big on flavor or originality.

Clear golden with a thin off-white head. Splotchy lacing. Smells of sweet malts and dark fruits. Light and fruity with a mellow, well-balanced combination of hops and malts. Smooth and mild.

Excellent representation of the style. Good choice if you're looking for something you could drink all day.

A-Poured into a pint glass, high clarity, golden brown in color. Not much of a head to speak of and minimal lacing.

S-Not too much going on in the nose. A small amount of cereal grain and some yeast lingering around in there.

T-Not too shabby. This is what the big macro's would taste like in a perfect world. Light, refreshing, some light toasted grains, a light touch of green apples (yeast maybe). Nothing overwhelming but an overall balanced easy drinking beer. Patio pounder of a beer.

M-Really nice for the style, just viscous enough while remaining light.

D-Its a pretty solid offering. Lawnmower beer or a great intro into good micros.

Had this with Hyland24 out of his Beer of the Month Stash. Poured from bottle to pilsner glass a light apricot color with golden hues and a white foamy head. Had a heavy sweet fruit smell up front, like a can of Del Monte fruit cocktail with a lingering mild malt aroma. The taste was sweet malts and mild fruity hops. Thin watery mouthfeel, lightbodied and very drinkable.

Bottle dated March 22, 2011 at the Denver airport.

Nice appearance, clear bright golden with a one finger white head.

The aroma is not very good, as metal is the main thing I'm picking up. Some sweet malt and hops behind that.

The flavor is not anything too great either. Sweet pale malt, grain, mild floral hops, and metal.

Medium-light bodied and metallic on the mouthfeel with medium-low carbonation.

What can I say- this isn't very good. Disappointments all around from Boulder tonight.

A: Bright, clear gold/amber color. Poured a 2 finger stark white coarse head with fair retention for the style. Light, broken lacing.

S: Light malts, very faint light fruits aroma. Light bitter hops in the finish.

T: Malts and subtle hops. Dry finish. Nicely balanced.

D: Very drinkable that's nicely done. The style is a bit dull, but it was done right - nice balance, no offensive off-tastes.

On-tap at Boulder Beer Tap House at the Denver Airport

A: The pour is a very pale gold color with a thin white head.

S: Doesn't really smell like much at all. Very light malt and hop aromas, maybe a bit of straw and bread. Just a bit of cereal sweetness to it.

T: Somewhat sweet, but also a very mild flavor. Some bread notes and a bit of floral hops and straw, very mild fruit esters. A bit watery and bland.

M: Light bodied with a medium carbonation.

O: Not much to say about this other than it is bland and uninteresting.

Boulder Buffalo Gold has a very thick, frothy, cream-colored head, a mostly clear, brilliant gold appearance, with tiny white particles throughout and heavy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of cream, mild and sweet bread crust, cream cheese cake icing, and hop oil. Taste is of all of those elements wit low, yet noticeable hop bitterness to round it out. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Boulder Buffalo Gold finishes crisp, highly drinkable, and exceptionally refreshing.

The beer poured from the bottle to reveal a light golden color. The aroma was very mild and slightly malty. The taste was very light and slightly sweet at first thrn yhere was a slight change as it hit the back of the tongue and a hint of hops came through. The beer was refreshing and would be OK on a hot summer day, but there was nothing to make it stand out to me.

Poured from 12oz bottle to pint glass.

A: I love this label. The beer pours a gold body with a two-finger off-white head with good retention as it becomes rocky. There's a decent amount of lacing as well.

S: Smells malty with graininess beating out hops.

T: Very similar to the smell. It's a very mellow taste with strong malt/grain/hop balance only containing notes of some sweet fruitiness.

Overall: Mouthfeel was a little weak, low in carbonation and about as light as water. The drinkability was amazing though, it was honestly easier than drinking soda.

A - Light transparent amber color, no head. Active carbonation.

S - Light citrus hops & sweet malt on the nose.

T - Sweet malt, soft hops undertones. Lingering malt finish.

M - Medium body, heavy carbonation. Settles on the tongue and runs off like molasses.

D - Nice malty flavor and not overly hoppy. Very drinkable for those who don't favor hops.
