A: Dark copper, clear. 1" head with lacing that is prevalent on the glass as the beer is consumed.

S: Piney, citrus with other floral qualities.

T: Caramel with lots of resinous qualities. Bitterness lingers long. The bitterness definitely stronger than the caramel backing, but in line with the style.

M: Thinner medium body. Sticky, not overly carbonated.

O: Very good example of an American IPA. Flavorful with good bitterness but with enough malt backbone to be substantial but not the focus. Hops are definitely the star here.

Canned last week, most likely the freshest beer I've ever had from out of state.

Appearance: A nice somewhat deep crimson-amber with a one finger light tan head. Lots of lacings on the glass. Good looking IPA.

Aroma: Aroma has resinous pine coated citrus. Lots of it. Slight floral. There is faint sweet caramel and breadiness.

Taste: Taste is similar to aroma but has a stronger citrus quality. The malts is quite good itself and goes well with all those hops. Caramel with tiny hints of toffee, but ever so light. As well as some breadiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light but toward the heavier side. Plentiful carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Bitterness is a bit strong and a tad overpowering the malts. There just enough malts to keep some balance.

Overall: Nice IPA, I enjoy the malts and hops quite a bit and goes well nicely. I still have a can left and will update if needed. Until then, very enjoyable IPA.

Poured 16oz can into imperial pint glass, canned 11/11/13 (11 days ago). Left a huge 2inch white head that took it's time to settle down. Color of the beer is quite dark for an IPA--dark amber.

Aroma is a nice blast of citrus and hops

Taste is very well balanced between the malts and hops. I get some caramel, bread maltiness up front then the citrus is noticeable before the hoppy bitter finish.

Mouthfeel -medium carbonation and lower to medium body, really smooth

Overall - I like that this is quite a different IPA than what I'm used to. Although it's definitely got a hop bite, it's balanced out pretty well. Happy that Surlys line up arrived in Chicago yesterday, looking forward to trying their entire line-up.
